Fergie: Obama Should Move on Gay Marriage

Fergiex390 (Screengrab) | Advocate.com

Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie said that President Barack Obama has helped to restore America’s global image, but he really needs to change his tune on marriage equality.

New Music Express caught up with Fergie at the Scottish music festival T in the Park where she offered her assessment of Obama, which included praise on the foreign relations front and the marriage equality tweak.

"He's a great speaker and I myself got to go to the White House," she said. "But I wish he would do more for gay marriages though. That's the one thing I want to happen!"

Watch Fergie discuss Obama with NME in the video.

I so agree with you on the George Wallace statement. IN our time not the next lifetime we will and we shall over come.

D'Oh -- the greatest irony is that Obama's own parents were allowed to marry because of a Supreme Court decision and that they would not have been allowed to marry in many states, especially in the South. For him to benefit from that decision and yet say that he does not support marriage for other groups currently denied marriage is hypocrisy and not a step in the right direction at all. That irony will earn him a place of shame in the history books, a George Wallace for a new generation!

I'm all about helping the gays but Fergie needs to concentrate on why she is staying with a man who cheats on her. Look everybody, Josh is banging another woman that isn't his wife--ok maybe not right now--but it will happen very soon. Fergie is out of the country. I'm sure Josh is saying, "Hey, baby my nose is getting big I noticed it be growing when I been telling them fibs Now you say your trust's getting weaker Probably coz my lies just started getting deeper And the reason for my confession is that I learn my lesson And I really think you ought to know the truth Because I lied and I cheated and I lied a little more But after I did it I don't know what I did it for I admit that I have been a little immature Fucking with your heart like I was the predator In my book of lies I was the editor And the author I forged my signature" Hey Fergie, you might want to pay attention to your own songs, LOL! You are out of the country so josh may be banging someone right now!

Doug, I know how you feel about Fergie. I always do a double-take when I hear it, thinking of the red-headed royal. Guess we are from the same generation.

Nice that she says all that - but hate to say that Obama does NOT support gay marriage but does want some sort of equality for partners. I guess that is at least a step in the right direction.

Bob, the Federal Government grants over 1100 rights to married couples, so it's both a states issue (licensing and bennefits) and a Federal issue (benefits, taxes, immigration, inheritance, health care etc).

Gay marriage isn't a federal issue it's a state issue. Also, the only thing Obama has done on the whole "restoring America's global image" is go on a 192 country apology tour.
