Jersey Shore’s Ronnie Sorry for Antigay Rant

JERSEY SHORE RONNIE SCREENGRAB X390

Ronnie Margo of Jersey Shore apologized Thursday via Twitter for the antigay rant that has angered millions of Americans.

According to TMZ.com, Ronnie posted the following message on his account.

"I apologize to my fans, In the heat of the moment i said a lot of things i didnt mean and im very sorry."

Footage of the antigay rant was revealed this week. In the leaked clip, Ronnie is seen yelling "f**king f**got" and a "f**king queer" right before he beats a man on the boardwalk.

Gay advocates denounced the rant, as did Italian-American groups, who condemn the ethnic stereotypes portrayed on the hit MTV show.

I think we should kiss MTV goodbye and launch a boycott, not just for promoting homophobia, but for promoting multiple stereotypes on multiple shows.

I agree with most every body that's commented on this article, and especially Tyler, "I didn't know who this guy was until this article."

So when is MTV going to apologize for showing this garbage in the first place? The people I've seen are of a bunch of trash-mouthed, overly made up pieces of crap that don't deserve the air time they're given. Forget Ronnie's mouth, and the sewer-mouthed bimbo he's with, MTV owes us the apology

Have we gotten to the point in this society where we consider what inbred pond scum "thinks" is news? At least show us your smooth ass cheeks precious. And I mean that in a "manly" & totally hetero kinda way.

Paul B. from Pittsburg, you're no better than Jersey Shore Ronnie using "goomba" to describe a young Italian man. It's derogatory and offensive, and shows your complete lack of sensitivity and intelligence, all the more ironic because you were feebly attempting to criticize someone else's. Fool! Now there's a race/ethnic/sexual orientation/religion-neutral term.

'Faggot' is a common term by today's youth's standards. Someone using it does not necessarily have to be homophobic. Lacking intelligence since they can't seem to find another more appropriate word? Maybe. Ignorant of gay issues? Very possible. However, given this young man's age, he was raised in a time when 'faggot' was a popular term to call someone. Just like 'dummy', 'doo-doo head' and so on. Does this excuse him from using insensitive, incendiary words? No. Does this serve as proof to him being homonegative? Not necessarily. The incident merely illustrates that he used a word common to his youth and his peers. Here's a parallel: take John Mayer's most recent flub up. I hardly think he's a homophobic, racist singer. If he was, he certainly wouldn't be where he is today. (Don Imus, anyone?) Did John Mayer have a lapse in intelligence? Certainly so. Racist or not, homophobic or not, words like those in a public setting is going to light some fires swiftly. Stars should know better.
