Olivia Munn to Obama: Legalize Gay Marriage

Television personality Olivia Munn took President Barack Obama to task last week for not legalizing marriages for same-sex couples, saying that as an African-American man, he should be more sensitive.

Munn, 29, spoke with the Fox News entertainment site Pop Tarts.

“It’s ridiculous and I'm really upset that Obama, as a black man, and all the things that African Americans have gone through after being oppressed, has said 'you're less than' and cannot stand up and say marriage is a union between two individuals who love each other,” she said. “I just think everyone should be allowed the same rights — if they want to exercise them, they can and if they don't, they don't.”

Munn recently posed for a PETA campaign urging people to boycott the circus in response to claims of elephant abuse.

I think Olivia Munn is a microcosm of whats wrong with America..basic civics..the President is not a dictator.. Personally I think it should be a state by state issue...but if gay marriage is to be made national I think all adult marriages should be allowed..incest,polygamy etc.

The reason that the President has done so little about making same sex marriage legal throughout the entire US and Territories is that he does not believe in it as he has so stated in the past. He believes in domestic partnerships and everything else that the word 'Marriage' conveys. He said so during his campaign for Presdient. However, he may have changed his mind since them. If so you need to thank Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson for changing the PResident's mind. If you are still unhappy--contact Bishop Robinson---he has the Presidents ear and may be able to make further changes. However, you must remember that we have come a long ways baby. In 1950, it was illegal to be gay and if you were arrested---some states executed you---Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, South Carolina, Alabama and Mississippi in particular. While we still have a long ways to go for equal rights be greatful we have what we now have.

that is not true. Obama used to support gay marriage 100% and changed his mind fearing he wouldn't get elected running on that platform

Two places a penis should never go: In another person's rectum and in a MAN's mouth. This website is rediculous, and so are all you homos who promote it. I am sorry that for some reason you did not fit in at your high school, or you were a special needs child, that does not mean you are gay.GAYS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO MARRY IN THE U.S.

I do feel it's fair to expect some kind of compassion and intellectual understanding from Obama on the issue since his parents are of an age to have been subjected to the same kind of marriage discrimination, and the main reason was so they would not have mixed race children. I doubt Obama would feel comfortable downgrading his parents marriage to a "inter-racial bond," for example, so I'm always shocked that he has no problem downgrading ours. That said, I agree with the previous poster that often as President your personal feelings need to be set aside, especially when you are a constitutional scholar, to lead and do the right thing for We The People. That he would put the civil rights of millions of Americans at risk simply to further the chances of his own political future is not the kind of leader he portrayed himself to be during the election. It's always the right time to do the right thing.

Lokk at his (Obama's) history. He has not. As an Illinois senator, he supported marriage equality. Then as a presidentail candidate, he changed his mind. Aricle ran in the advocate.

While I do believe blacks should be more sympathetic and understanding of the gay situation, the point of fighting for their own civil rights was so that they could express and hold their own opinions. Just because someone has a certain skin color doesn't mean they should hold a certain opinion. While I obviously don't agree with those who are against gay marriage as a gay man, I have to respect the right for people to have an opposing opinion, no matter how wrong I think it may be.

Obama has always been against same-sex marriage. Why would anyone expect him to do "more (!) to legalize same-sex marriage"? But I'm sure he'll get around to it after he legalizes marijuana, nationalizes BP, and ends the pointless war in Afghanistan!

I am so tired of being a half human. Why can't I be recognized like everyone else? I recognize their rights, whatever they do.
