Soapside: Advocate 's Guide to Daytime

I am so happy for Van Hansis. He so deserves to win. He should have won the last two times. Now, if TPTB gave him more airtime, it would be perfect : I can't get enough of his pretty face !!

I'm very happy for Van Hansis. The nomination is well deserved. I have to agree that Luke and Noah are getting shafted. They're acting so chaste and boring right now. They aren't even kissing. Their relationship has become stagnant. The writers aren't even bothering to write them like a real couple. I think ATWT does need to be called out for trying to avoid and censor Luke and Noah's relationship. Not only that, but the material they are getting is not all that great. The kidnapping was more avoidance of their relationship. They have been supporting other characters and standing in the background.

Definately congratulations to Van Hansis for his Emmy nomination! He certainly deserves it! But to the folks who said Luke and Noah are never on and never have a storyline, have you been watching the last couple of months? They've had pretty much back to back stories since March and their kidnapping story was THE frontburner story on the show during the first couple weeks of May. They were on air about 3 days a week during that time. And they do kiss. Take a look at some of their recent clips on YouTube. They have a couple more storylines coming up soon.

What kind of people watch this drek anyway? Get a life people. And a brain.

I don't believe Chris Engen, Adam on Y & R, is homophobic. Maybe he's tired of the direction his character is going. Perhaps he doesn't want to end his career at such an early stage in his life playing gay. It is an ugly stereotype that glbt characters are rich and white, and maybe , just maybe, he doesn't want to feed into that.

Congrats to Van Hansis for his emmy nom! He totally deserves it. Too bad about the actor from Y&R being scared of kissing scenes. Though lets face it. ATWT is also afraid to do gay kissing scenes with Luke and Noah. Plus, they are never on and never have a storyline. Fans are still waiting for them to move in together. Why is ATWT still afraid to tell the Luke and Noah story?

It's so great to see Van Hansis nominated. I'm so pleasantly surprised seeing as how he never gets any airtime pretty much ever. I think it would be cool if you would write a lot about Luke and Noah and try to find out why ATWT never writes for them and why they are never on. I think ATWT needs to be called on the carpet for their treatment of Luke and Noah and why they seem to have a problem letting Luke and Noah show affection. Gee CBS and Telenext don't seem to have a problem letting Otalia on GL have lots of super affection.

Thanks for the Otalia update! Last week was absolutely amazing: the scenes with father Ray were writing and acting perfection. And the cute flirting going between Otalia on didn't hurt matters either. Can't wait for this weeks episodes. Still in disbelief about the fact that Crystal Chappell wasn't nominated. It's simply criminal! And it makes me seriously question both judgement and eyesight of those involved in the nominating process.

I don't know that I have ever been more shocked than when reading the Emmy nominations and not seeing Crystal Chappell's name. I reread the list over and over and could not believe my eyes. A few strokes and clicks and an email to the Emmy office made me feel better but I don't understand their reasoning. She did great work in 2008 as she has done for many years and is the best actress in daytime TV. She can compete with the best and the outcome always leaves you wanting to see more. The actresses on the list have their strengths but none compare to CC. What other actress on TV gives you the feeling that everything is right in the world by a look, a smile, a laugh, a whisper, even a tear. There are a few but she has to be among the best. First we get hit that GL (Guiding Light) will end its 72 year run in Sept. 09, but then the Daytime Emmy crew does not even consider Crystal Chappell to have an nomination as the great and talented Olivia Spencer for an acting nomination. That alone was a slap in the face. And I was hoping Jessica Leccia to even get a supporting acting nomination who plays Natalia Rivera the other half of the Otalia super freaking hero couple. Daytime get it right when a storyline is not interrupted do not cut it. Its all about love just love. And unlike All My Children Guiding Light is the voice of reason to the fans who love this show that I too have grown fond of. Congrats Luke and Noah and anything good that came out of it. But seriously some of the people in the daytime community (AKA Pratt) needs to get their heads examined. Go TEAM OTALIA AND TEAM GL and TEAM GLBT. Thats all that means to me.
