Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire?

Millionaire Douglas Donahoo is looking for the perfect man (who is also eco-friendly). Will matchmaker Patti Stanger deliver?

DOUG DONAHOO MILLIONAIRE MATCHMAKER MAIN X390 (BRADFORD ROGNE) | ADVOCATE.COM

Patti Stanger may have finally met her match in 39-year-old banker turned clothing designer Doug Donahoo, who she tried to pair off with the perfect man in tonight's episode of The Millionaire Matchmaker.

After enjoying a successful career in private banking, Donahoo decided his passion was with environmental awareness. So he founded 4-rth (For Earth), a line of eco-friendly sustainable clothing made from fabrics including bamboo and organic cotton. He's even determined that his estate be left to the Natural Resources Defense Council, an organization that lobbies Congress and promotes conservation of the environment, working against urban sprawl, pollution, and habitat destruction.

In line with his passion for the environment, Tuesday night's episode of The Millionaire Matchmaker is all green.

Donahoo took time to talk to The Advocate about living an eco-friendly life, what Stanger is really like, and what he is looking for in a man.

The Advocate: The episode you appear in has a very special theme. Can you tell our readers a little more about it?
Doug Donahoo:
Our episode is being cast as the eco-friendly episode because the other millionaire has an eco-friendly business. Our hour is focused around eco-sensitive themes. The other millionaire took her date on a toxic dump tour in Long Beach. It was not very romantic, but the emphasis of the show was to bring environmental awareness to her viewing audience because I don’t think it has ever been discussed on her show.

How are you doing your part to preserve the environment?

I drive a hybrid vehicle, I’m very sensitive about how much I use, I’m very sensitive about recycling, and I’m very proactive in terms of teaching my friends how to be more conscious of the environment. I lecture them if we’re out and I see them do something that’s not eco-sensitive.

Does your ideal match have to be eco-sensitive as well?

I think everyone should be more conscious of how they’re impacting the planet. If they’re not, they need to be open to the idea. They can’t be somebody who does not care. How can they not care?

There are so many interesting, dynamic, creative, successful, beautiful, and passionate gay men and women on this planet, but the Advocate choose to waste space running an article about Doug Donahoo from Millionaire Matchmaker. I don't normally watch the show, but I saw some of the advertising for the episode with Mr. Donahoo , and I was curious to see how a gay match would be handled. I wished I had not bothered. I was appalled at his ugliness. He was shallow, self-absorbed, rude, narcissistic, ignorant, and thoughtless. And, he's not even "all that" to justify his attitude. Is that the sort of individual the Advocate thinks is worthy of a lead story in its covers? If so, then the Advocate has truly fallen a long way. In the end, I felt pity for Mr. Donahoo, as he must have been hurt very deeply at some point in his life to become such a despicable person. I also felt tremendous embarrassment for the Advocate that its editorial team thought his story was newsworthy.

Thank you for the variety in reporting Advocate. I do appreciate that, but I have no clue who this guy is. Is this a TV show or something? Lol. I don't own a TV, therefore, I don't watch very much TV. Most of what I watch, I find on the internet somewhere.

Doug is a poor excuse for a human being. The arrogance and ego top the charts. He would not know "love" if it were to hit him in the face. He is a repulsive asshole. Who cares that he has money? RUN, don't walk, to get away from him. As Patty stated, he is overwhelmingly self-absorbed and shallow. PLEASE change the channel from the "Doug Show"! What a miserable lonely man; a fate he truly deserves besides sympathy.

THis guy is THE jerk of LA! gay or straight he is still an idiot, red meat is not eco friendly cause it came from red animals...he actually said that...i have no idea chicken have green blood and that cows present a mortal danger to earth, must be the BS that comes out of his under bite mouth he is talking about. Last i check cardiac health and eco friendly is not the same thing. then again this same person also base his millionaire status on his self valuation of his company, now that is really a fantasy. unless there is a buyer offering him 2 mill for his business in cash, it is not worth a damn thing , well maybe the value of all the scrap fabric i see laying on the tiny cutting room floor, shal we say $1000 ought to do it? For personality he gets a negative infinity, and for intellegence..what is lower than IQ zero? This guy DO have the best sex with himself, cause no one else would be near him. i bet he stares at himself everytime he walks pass a mirror!

I really despise Patty and her show, especially when she has gay men on. I watched to see how badly she was going to treat this guy. And wow, I thought she was too easy on him. Reality show people always says they are edited to look bad, but there's no way editing made this dude look so bad. He has zero personality and was totally obnoxious. I find him to be appalling.

He definitely made an ass of himself on the show. You never know, some clever editing may have made it seem worse than it is.. I loved how he was completely blank when his dates asked him questions about something other than the way he looks. You could hear the crickets chirping in his head.

This guy is a sorry excuse for a man. The way in which he treated his date was annoying. He epitomizes everything I hated about living in LA. Too shallow for words. The guy needs to wake up.

This guy was a total ass to the other guys on the show. I felt sorry for the guy who had to go on the final date with him. Young twinks may be able to get away with being completely self absorbed, but once you hit a certain age, its time to grow up and stop thinking the entire world is in love with you. I don't think the guy is even wanting to find a partner. He probably just wanted free publicity for his so-called company.

Why does T.V. always show the queeny, bitchy, self absorbed gay guy. I appreciate all types of gay men, but it would be nice to see a different side of gay life. Doug is an individual who is not even a good looking guy inside or out. It is really laughable. I wouldn't even give him a second look if I saw him on the street. It is okay to love yourself, but to be in love with yourself is a different matter, especially when you are not even that cute. I value the fact that he wants to be eco-conscious, but before we saint him don't forget his initial statements "that he saw an opportunity to make money in the "green" industry". I feel sad for a guy like that who has such an out of whack view of himself. My thoughts are if he was as handsome as he thinks and he was a good person, then he wouldn't be single. I think he just wanted to be on T.V. and hock his clothing line as he does all over Facebook. Best of luck to him though. Maybe someday he will understand.
