San Francisco: Marriage Equality in Pictures

Take a look at the first day of marriage equality in the city where it all began.

On June 17, 2008, gay and lesbian couples fled to San Francisco's City Hall to celebrate their newfound right to marry. Some wore suits and silk ties or satin dresses and Hawaiian leis, while others sported signs and flags, but however they were adorned, they all combined to create a day filled with jubilation and matrimony.

Great pictures. But starting the article with the observation that couples "fled to City Hall" denotes they were seeking of shelter from harm. I think "flocked" might have been a better choice of wording. (I'm marrying my partner on Oct. 12, in Foster City, CA---and I'm a bit of a grammar geek.)
