Bishop Gene Robinson to Deliver Prayer at Inauguration's Opening Ceremony

The Right Reverend Gene Robinson, the first openly gay person to be ordained a bishop in the Episcopal Church, has been asked by President-elect Barack Obama's inaugural committee to deliver the invocation at the inauguration's opening ceremony, which is being held at the Lincoln Memorial on Sunday, January 18, and will be the first event attended by the president-elect.

Robinson, whose endorsement of Obama before the New Hampshire primary was considered a big coup for the campaign, has been critical of the controversial selection of Reverend Rick Warren to deliver the invocation at the president-elect's swearing-in ceremony on the National Mall on January 20. When Robinson heard the news about Warren, who has likened being gay to incest and statutory rape, he said "it was like a slap in the face."

But after the invitation was extended to him, Robinson told New Hampshire's Concord Monitor that his inclusion in the opening event would be incredibly affirming to gay people.

"It's important for any minority to see themselves represented in some way," Robinson said. "Whether it be a racial minority, an ethnic minority, or, in our case, a sexual minority -- just seeing someone like you up front matters."

A spokesman for the inaugural committee told the Monitor that Robinson was given the opportunity to participate in the opening ceremony because of his contribution to the religious community and his efforts on behalf of Obama during the campaign. Robinson also revealed recently that President-elect Obama sought out his counsel and reflections on what it was like to be "a first."

LGBT leaders were quick to trumpet the addition to the ceremony. “Bishop Robinson models what prayer should be -- spiritual reflection put into action for justice,” said Human Rights Campaign president Joe Solmonese. “It is encouraging that the president-elect has chosen this spiritual hero for all Americans to lead the nation in prayer at the Lincoln Memorial inaugural concert.” (Kerry Eleveld, Advocate.com)

Sad to say, but this country is being demoralized. It isn't founded on the basis and the principles it used to live by. Now, its anything goes. I'm glad for President Obama, but unless he does things God's way, which is the right way, this country is headed for a downfall. Read Galation 5. It's about love and liberty. I promise you'll enjoy it. Hey! IT'S JUST ANOTHER WARNING.

GOD DIDN'T MAKE YOU GAY(your way of being gay) The Bible did say in the last days that men would turn from there natural affection-youknow, a man for a woman and awoman for a man. President-elect Obama cannot please everyone in which he is trying to do and he definitely don't owe the gay community anything. He will need all the prayer he can get, he will be the one running this Great American Country called AMERICA. This country is supposed to a CHRISTIAN country. It's being warned countless times. America is living up to its new nickname Sodom or Gomorrah

Get it together Gene Robinson and all you other preachers and leaders who are leading these people astray. The Bible says, Woe unto the Shepherds that scatter my flock. Oh, my God, this world is gone haywire. he and others are confusing these already confused people that don't even know why they are here. You weren't born gay. That was your choice. You don't have to be that way. gay, in the webster's dictionary means simply "happy". Now don't get me wrong, there's not a thing wrong with being happy. The Bible do say a merry heart doeth good like a medicine. (to be conyinued)

So-called (openly-gay) BISHOP Gene Robinson is also openly denouncing the GOD that he is supposed to be telling the world about. And what god will he be praying to? He must have been to busy to be reading the Bible which is and always will be the true Word of GOD, because GOD said in his Word that he don't hear sinners prayer UNLESS they are coming to him to REPENT! HATE? It's not about hate. It's about love. I f it wasn't love you wouldn't be hearing the truth. I'm pretty sure god warned the people Sodom and Gomorrah before destroying it. God has sent his leaders and preachers and those who are born-again believers to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every nation. Not only his word, but aso his love. Trust me, GOD'S love is now being shared. (to be continued)

Has anybody ever read Genesis 19 chapter about Sodom and Gomorrah. Well, if you haven't read it, I encourage you to do so. It's not gay people that others say people hate. It's the SIN. How can you hate someone and have the love of God in your heart??? I's true, the Bible says to love, but the secular world has confused GOD's love with man's love. (To be continued)

There is noe FEARof GOD like there was back in the olden days. No Fear. Even thogh God is the same GOD and he will never ever change. His words are true. What goes for one, goes for all. If only his judgement was expedient today as it were back then. Man, would we be in serious trouble. We have to take God at his Word
