Cuadra Expected to Take the Stand

Harlow Cuadra, the former porn producer and hustler who is accused of the brutal murder of Cobra Video founder Brian Kocis, is expected to take the stand Monday and discuss the events leading up to Kocis's 2007 death.

In the trial court in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., prosecutors Monday morning played taped conversations between Cuadra, business partner Joseph Keredes, and porn star Brent Corrigan. Cudara is alleged to discuss Kocis in the conversations, which were taped on a nude beach in San Diego in April 2007 -- three months after Kocis was killed. Jurors will hear more of the tapes this afternoon.

Corrigan and business partner Grant Roy took part in taping the conversations with Cuadra and Kerekes as part of a police investigation, according to CitizensVoice.com .

Gay-porn star Brent Corrigan testified in court Friday that he was approached by Cuadra on MySpace -- to ask about producing a film together.

Cuadra is accused of killing Kocis in an attempt to lure 22-year-old Corrigan away from Cobra Video. Kocis was found dead at his Pennsylvania home in January 2007 -- he had been stabbed 28 times, and a fire set to his home burned his body beyond recognition.

Kerekes, also charged in Kocis's death, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in December and is serving a life sentence in prison.

Corrigan had performed in several titles for Cobra Video before he turned 18 and until early last year was still entangled in a litigious feud over the use of his stage name with Cobra. According to reports, Cuadra and Kerekes wanted to make a "million-dollar" adult film starring with Corrigan.

An episode of the here! Networks series Everything You Wanted to Know About Gay Porn Stars focuses on Harlow Cuadra and his life leading up to the trial. You can view it on the network or in its entirety here.

The trial, which started on Tuesday, February 24, is expected to last about three weeks. Attorneys interviewed 122 potential jurors for the case over a five-day selection process. Kerekes is serving a life sentence in prison after pleading guilty for murdering Kocis.

Cobra's webmaster Alexander Fuente testified that Kocis received emails two days before his murder from someone by the name of Danny Moilin who wanted to audition for a Cobra film. Photos of Moilin looked like Cuadra.

I find Harlow to be a victim of circumstances here. There is a gentleness and sincerity to him that runs rampant, and I can only hope and pray that this man is found innocent of these charges which I am sure have most certainly been staged to a great degree. I support you wholeheartedly, Harlow, and will keep you forever in my prayers.

I am not able to comment on his guilt or innocence, but he did convey a sense of naivete. I do find that difficult to believe given his background, especially in the escort and porn industry. Had he been in "the biz" for less time, this may have seemed plausible. It did not take me long, back in the day, to figure out white is black and everyone is looking for a mark. There are many things going against him and I hope the truth will emerge. I agree that Brent/Sean and his pimp/lover need to be further investigated. I feel badly for all involved, with the exception of Mr. Kerekes. He seems to have been the manipulator behind the whole drama. It will be tough for Harlow to redeem himself in light of Kerekes' confession and conviction. I pitty Harlow's family who will live with the stigma and angst for the rest of their lives. Kudos to the creator of the documentary. It did provide some insight. Thank you, Advocate, for making it available.

I think almost everybody who has commented here is being WAY too hard on Mr. Cuadra solely because he did pornography. Many people here have also subscribed in some way to pornography at some point in their lives yet feel its ok to judge those same that they use for their pleasure. Harlow may very well be guilty of murder but it seems with the proceedings like thats the last thing he is being charged on. I think he is being charged on being an actor in pornography and a ex-hustler then a gay man and finally an accused murderer. He should move venues to somewhere more accepting of the gay community so that he gets a fair trial.

The whole cast of unwholesome characters -- including Brent Corrigan -- are totally degenerate and morally bankrupt. This whole business and all those who are associated with it smells to the heights of heaven. These porn people have made themselves outcasts from all decent society.

Yes he is attractive and his voice is calm, but so was Scott Peterson after he killed his wife and unborn child. As an ex call boy I'll say this, sex liberates you, dehumanizes you, and makes you capable of anything. In capitalist business ethics the point is to beat out the competition and when your business is sex, things can get a little animalistic. This murder was a plotted, planned, and carried out. It was not an accident or a case heat of the moment. The killer knew what they were doing then and they were calm when they did it, why shouldn't they be calm afterwards?

OH MY GOD! This guy is obviously guilty, but what really terrifies me is that there are idiots out there, as proven by some of the comments here, who have fallen for his lies because he is "cute" or "well-spoken." etc. etc. Are some of you so sad and lonely that you would let a murderer run loose to kill again so you can fulfill some sick fantasy going on in your mind? The guy is slime and hopefully will rot in prison as will his partner in crime.

Dammit. My belief in the beauty and innocence of porn stars and hustlers just went out the window. I mean, if you can't trust porn stars and call boys, who can you trust these days? At least he's not going to have difficulty with his new occupation in prison. sigh PS: HOT does not make someone Innocent or sweet. You want sweet and innocent? Try Mother Theresa.

The jury has seen and heard from Justin, Robert, Andrew and now Brent. Of course there sits Harlow, seen but not heard. It's beginning to look like "Another High School Musical" and with that appearance the jury and good citizens of "Death Trap Mountain" cannot help but to think that all of these men could have been spared the path to prostitution, porno, crime and murder had Bryan Kocis not been in this picture or some other older adult influence. When the defense starts their presentation will they recall these boys to the stand and again examine their relationship with these older and more mature guys and leave the jury with an impression of manuplulation, coercion and intimidation ? Is this another Stockholm Syndrome Defense emerging ?

The whole business usually attracts desperate people, but Harlow seems to have had a life of such promise. He and his partner seemed to be doing so well. There own business was apparently thriving. Why kill over one gay pornstar---there are so many of them. I, too, was moved by his comments; I want him to be innocent and I want him to get a fair trial, but I also want the killer to be punished. The thing that bothers me most, which Harlow did not address, is that his partner confessed. Is Harlow collateral damage from a Kerekes-Grant Roy scheme? Grant Roy needs to be investigated; however, after cutting the deal, wouldn't Kerekes have exonerated Harlow if he could have?
