Seventeen-year-old
James Neiley testified in Vermont Friday about the importance
of legalizing same-sex marriage, getting to the heart of the
issue -- inequality, violence, and discrimination.
"Without marriage
equality, the boys in the locker room during gym class who
harassed me are encouraged to believe that my sexuality means
there is something different, wrong, and lesser about me," he
said. "They know I don't have the same rights as they do, and
they know I can't have a big, tacky, expensive wedding filled
with family and friends no matter how much I may want
to."
