The Iowa Family Policy
Center released a video on Monday assessing the "impact of
homosexuality on a family," claiming that the state
supreme court's marriage-equality ruling will breed more
homosexuality, causing death, pain, and suffering among
families across the state.
Karl and Judy
Schowengerdt explain that their son was too ashamed to tell
anyone that he was diagnosed with HIV until he got sick. They
also said -- and Karl wrote in a
guest column
to the
Des Moines Register
-- that their son called homosexuality "a
cult" on his death bed. They go on to blame their
son's death on his being gay, and claim that same-sex
marriage will only bring more pain to families.
The
eight-minute video was e-mailed to the group's
members, cautioning them of the "consequences" of
Iowa's recent legalization of same-sex marriage.
