Queer Women of Color Film Festival

The 2009 QWOCFF continues it's tradition of selecting a critical festival focus by examining queer women of color and immigration to bridge our "Multiple Borders." The Festival Focus includes a "Multiple Borders" Featured Screening and Community Convening with a Panel Discussion and Films. These events will bring together immigrant, people of color and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) organizations that will work to reframe contentious national debates.

The Queer Women of Color Film Festival (QWOCFF) stands on the leading edge of social change by featuring films by queer women of color from around the world. Decisively different from traditional film festivals, it consistently attracts large, diverse and enthusiastic audiences through a combination of innovative arts participation with public dialogue and civic engagement.

It promotes cross-cultural interactions and establishes dynamic relationships between artists, activists and audiences. The 5th annual Queer Women of Color Film Festival unleashes the true power of film to create change and authentically reflect the lives of queer women of color and their multiple communities.

The festival opens on June 12 with a screen of Multiple Borders followed by a reception at Brava Theater, 2789 24th Street at York, San Francisco, and will continue on till the 14th. All screenings are free.
