Adult fetish website
Kink.com
had been receiving government funding to the tune of nearly
$47,000 for employee training up until April -- but the state
of California yanked further financing when it
discovered Kink.com was in the porn business.
The website, which is
listed with the state under parent company Cybernet
Entertainment, had been granted funding for employee training
for the past three years. In April the funding was abruptly
yanked with word that the company will no longer be able to
rely on the subsidized support.
"We were informed by
[nonprofit media services organization] the Bay Area Video
Coalition that funding would be cut off for training, and that
any classes already in session would have to end at the end of
the week," Kink.com director of communications Ilana Rothman
told XBIZ, an adult industry trade publication. "We were
up-front with the application process and did not hide [the
fact that Cybernet was an adult company]."
Rothman said the
training money was used primarily in production and technology
departments for training in graphic design, programming,
animation, and editing.
