Man Acquitted With Gay Panic Defense

A Chicago man who killed his neighbor by stabbing him with a replica dagger 61 times was acquitted of first-degree murder on Friday.

Joseph Biedermann fatally stabbed his neighbor Terrance Hauser last year, and Biedermann's attorney Sam Adam Jr. argued that his client was acting in self-defense, saying Hauser had threatened him with unwanted sexual advances.

According to a police report, both men were drunk at the time of the attack, and Biedermann claimed that Hauser had threatened him physically.

Adam Jr. successfully represented R&B singer R. Kelly in his 2008 trial on child pornography charges. He also represents ex-governor of Illinois Rod Blagojevich.

So why are we tiptoeing around what most likely happened here? Biedermann was in the closet, but when he drank he was looking to catch a man's eye. Hoffman Estates isn't exactly Boystown. In fact, as far as attitudes go, it may as well have been the deep south. So the very fact that he met Hauser and was willing to go back to his apartment is quite telling. Once at the apartment, behind the safety of a closed door, they started making out. No telling how far things went, but at some point Biedermann started focusing on his girlfriend, his family, his friends, his co-workers, and what they'd think about him at this moment. The sword was likely on display somewhere and Biedermann lashed out with all of his repressed hatred he holds for himself. After the fact, what else was he going to say? He wasn't about to go home to his girlfriend and confess his urges to her.

Alex, "If you're acting in pure self defense as this judge has foolishly decided." The judge didn't foolishly decide. The jury foolishly decided.

No one can refute any allegations of the victim possibly engaging in MSM activities because you simply don't know - and wouldn't neccessarily be in a position to know. You never know everything about everyone. To the family member denying Hauser was gay, the crime itself is a textbook 'gay murder' regardless of your knowledge of the victim. Those who deny the crime being 'gay' generally view being gay as being a greater crime than the murder itself. It was the 'gay' aspect of the crime in the eyes of the jury and prosecutors which allowed Biedermann to walk free.

People - hate to break this news to you, but the victim was not gay. If he was I would have problem with it, being family and all. But he wasn't. Biedermann, maybe, but biedermann had history of violence against people. I am sure Mike could have done something that freaked the guy out. The defence took the - dirty perv - possible child pron route. Do people that like kids usually want adults, if that is the route we want to take?

Hey Phillip, way to boil down a nuanced, complex situation into a sound byte of sensationalistic, simplistic garbage. PS- At least one of the women you are referring to was convicted. Perhaps you should find better stories to reference.

I would like to send out condolances to the family of Terrance Micheal Hauser. To his mother and siblings who had to endure the tragedy and sadness. Micheal is in a better place. He is in spirit, looking down on earth, guiding his loved ones. He is one with god. God Bless Micheal and his family. Let us look for forgivness in our hearts because it is what Micheal would have wanted. Let us begin to heal and remember the love so that we can continue to live in the light until we reunite in heaven with those we have lost on earth. TMH

Can someone please clarify how this all took place? Okay, I got a victim with a sword who is trying to kill and rape his killer simultaneously while his killer was able to get in 61 stabs with a knife. Really--and while everyone was drunk? I guess that could happen. Is it really possible that this guy was so hot that the victim would want to rape him rather than form a lasting loving relationship with his own kind? Why are breeders so fricking narcissistic? I maybe don't have all of the "facts" clear, but it doesn't sound too plausible. What I do know is that swords are far more extended than knives. I also know that you can plant evidence and have help with inflicting some well placed slices when you have just killed someone in cold blood. What wounds did the killer sustain? Thank God for karma.
