Attn. Gay America: Prepare to Lock Lips

Gay rights activists are calling for a string of "kiss-ins," a response to the detention of gay couples by security guards in Texas and Utah for kissing in public.

Kissing demonstrations already took place earlier this month in front of Mormon temples in Salt Lake City and San Diego to protest the treatment of a gay couple detained by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for kissing on church property in Salt Lake City. Now, bloggers David Badash of New York and David Mailloux of Boston are calling on people to join in "kiss-ins" planned across the country on August 15.

The Great Nationwide Kiss-In will include demonstrations in at least seven U.S. cities: Boston, New York, Houston, Portland, Ore., and three California cities -- Irvine, San Diego, and San Francisco.

Chris, you sell your equal-self short. We do not have to win over minds and gain approval. We already have the constitution which offers equal protection. If we agree we have to convince people, win them over, we agree there is an acceptable opposing view. There is not, as it is called bigotry. We have to work to stop Obama from continuing to Catholic-stack the bench, which has nothing to do with winning over minds. BTW, wonder why our opposition is so afraid of losing? They know the "moral" argument is a lie...it is a fear tactic to keep people hating us. If we win marriage, adoption, DADT etc they will lose the moral argument and won't have us as their best recruiting tool. Hate speach is what they employ and we should be pointing that out. The SPLC should be calling many of these groups out as they do white supremecist groups. They will...after we win. No more religious exception for bigotry!

PJR, your analogy makes no sense. I highly doubt the RCC would call the police as you suggest Glaad should do. Why would they let the police in to find evidence of their molestation club? Glaad is not systematically roving the planet intent on making more hate warriors who will vote against civil rights. Follow the money.....opposition to equal rights in our marriage fight comes directly from this cult. I know people say don't bother responding to you, but I disagree. You seem to thrive on this. If we give you enough of it, I'm sure you'll stop listening to your prayers and return to being yourself, gay. For it does seem that you are an exodus member, who pray away the gay. Nothing fails like prayer. And as they say, to pray to an imaginary friend is wishful thinking at best, but to hear him respond is complete lunacy!

PJR, if you hate us and yourself so much, why do you come here? Why don't you just go find an Exodus meeting and pray with the other loons? All you're doing is annoying people with your warped Christianity and sad self-loathing. You will never change anyone's mind. Ever.

Ronda, that was a dang funny post! You got a belly laugh out of me with that post! Don't hold your breath though! Even if all the problems such as the immorality was overlooked, etc., etc., etc., I still would have a real insurmountable problem with the idea of my poco fighting it's way past the corn filled stool chunks of someone else's filthy dirty asshole!

A kiss is an ancient (Catholic) way of sealing a prayer--for peace. It was of near of sacramental value. This is just our little way of sealing a prayer, a prayer for LGBT/allies' justice. PRJ--I hope someone of your same gender will find it in his/her heart to give you a loving kiss and melt that hurting heart of yours. I know if you keep writting you will eventually come around to our side of the argument. Keep writing.

Jet, with immature band leader like you, who needs opposition! This line, "when it marched into Catholic churches and laid down like corpses. Guess how many Catholics that made uncomfortable. Many." is so absurd it's ridiculous! Basically the opposite of that is for former lesbians and heterosexual men to go lie down and have a kiss in in GLAAD's offices. Now how long before you think GLAAD calls the police and calls this a homophobic hate speech attack??! This stuff is just so immature it's ridiculous! Any reasonable human can easily see this is more immature thinking caused by a huge mental disorder, the same one that causes the choice for homosexuality in the first place! Let's remember, the gay couple sucking face in Utah was on the Church's private property. That's hardly some right they have. Rather, it's an abuse they criminally performed! Gay agendaers need to wake up and get their heads screw on straight! Hets don't feel an sympathy for a freak show, particularly repeats!

Seriously, kiss ins, whether heterosexual or homosexual, are such immature protest, well the only thing this accomplishes is to put a head count to the severely mentally disordered homosexuals, the ones who are disturbed enough to think protesting some gay trailer trash acting out sexually in public and on private property deserves as protest more acting like so much trailer trash in public, and that somehow brings respect from the majority! It don't!

@Chris, it's spelled "waste," and no it isn't. ACT-UP made great strides in terms of visibility when it marched into Catholic churches and laid down like corpses. Guess how many Catholics that made uncomfortable. Many. The kiss protest is great, and the idea is not to make people feel at home, it's to confront them with the disparity in treatment between gays and straights. Kiss away!

I'm one of the guys in this photo. We were a small group, maybe ten couples, two of which were straight. One of the straight couples brought their little girl in a white dress with red hearts. We all had uplifting signs; I brought an American flag. People riding by honked their horns and waved. While the feeling was overwhelmingly positive we were also saying that we've had it with being pushed around. Those of us in California poured our everything into protecting marriage equality last year. Now having read about several anti-gay incidents around the country, including one in Salt Lake City, I'm not concerned with appeasement. I'm not going to slug anyone but I'm going to push back and stand my ground. Doing my marriage equality work last year I encountered people that had never met a gay person. My boyfriend and I hold hands all the time. We get the occasional odd look but want to put a face on gay America when we're out doing the normal things that all people do.
