Va. AG Hopeful: Gay Acts Are "Wrong"

Ken Cuccinelli, the Republican candidate for attorney general in Virginia, recently made remarks to a newspaper in which he said, “Homosexual acts are wrong.” He declined to commit to a nondiscrimination policy enforced by former attorney general Bob McDonnell, now the Republican candidate for governor.

Cuccinelli, a state senator from Fairfax, made his comments to The Virginian-Pilot when asked about the nondiscrimination policy observed by his predecessor. The Norfolk-based newspaper reported the remarks earlier this week as it endorsed his opponent, Steve Shannon, a Democratic delegate from Fairfax, for the top law enforcement job.

“My view is that homosexual acts, not homosexuality, but homosexual acts are wrong,” said Cuccinelli, according to The Virginian-Pilot. “They’re intrinsically wrong. And I think in a natural law-based country it’s appropriate to have policies that reflect that. ... They don’t comport with natural law. I happen to think that it represents (to put it politely; I need my thesaurus to be polite) behavior that is not healthy to an individual and in aggregate is not healthy to society.”

Current polls show Cuccinelli leading Shannon in the race for attorney general.

Did any one send the Ken Cuccinelli’s Memo to the sheep, dolphins, elephants, Rams, and other 750+ other species that got caught having public same-sex? So much for natural law. I guess being ignorant is not against natural law after all.

Someday a candidate for an important state office like AG will not be able to display such ignorant bigotry with impunity. But it seems we still have a long way to go before seeing that day, my friends.

What is really frightening is that this man wants to be ATTORNEY GENERAL, yet is operating under the premise that our country's and his state's laws are based on "natural law." And here I thought they were based on the Constitution. Silly me! Well, I'm already boycotting Virginia because of its constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage; this idiot just gives me one more reason.

I am so tired of these right-wing so-called Christian politicians saying that homosexuality and homosexual acts are wrong when over half of them are in the closet themselves. They do put the negative spotlight on the glbt community so that their mistakes will hopefully go unnoticed. If we really think about it...there are more straight men that are pedophiles, rapists, robbers, murderers, and drug abusers than people in the glbt community. Heck, most of just want to be treated equal, have a life, a career, a family, and a partner( I mean husband). I am so proud of Obama singing this Hate Crimes Bill to protect us and our youth. So if someone in the glbt community is a victim of a hate crime, then the federal governement can prosecute the perpertrator of the local, or state government is too bigoted to do it. Oh and this is not infringing on the freedom of speech or religion of Christians. They only say that so they can continue belittling the glbt community and thats wrong!

I'm a VA resident and trust me I won't be voting for this guy or McDonnell. The way things are looking they are both in the lead, McDonnell by at least 10%.
