Fort Worth Police: No Firings for Bar Raid

The results of an internal Fort Worth police investigation into the Rainbow Lounge bar raid, to be released Thursday, will clear department officers of allegations that they used excessive force, and the report will not recommend that any officers be fired.

Six police officers raided the Rainbow Lounge in June, with help from two agents from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, on the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall riots. One patron, Chad Gibson, received a serious head injury and was hospitalized for a week.

According to the NBC affiliate in Fort Worth, “the long-awaited 1,000-page report is expected to fault officers for not writing a timely report on the June 28 raid of the Rainbow Lounge, but conclude officers did not use excessive force or violate other operational policies.”

Also on Thursday, the TABC expects to release its findings into whether their two agents used excessive force in the raid. The agents were fired for violations of agency policies.
