Men on a Mission Back for 2010

1 PIXEL GIF | ADVOCATE.COM

In its third year, the Men on a Mission calendar has put twelve returned Mormon missionaries front and center, bare-chested and ready to make a statement.

2010 MEN ON A MISSION CALENDAR BIG 550 | Advocate.com

Created as a way to combat the fear and violence so often committed in the name of religion, this is the first Men on a Mission calendar to be completed after the passing of Prop 8 in California and Question 1 in Maine -- both stripped gay couples of the right to marry, both were largely funded by the Mormon church.

Many of the models featured in the calendar are openly gay, and Men on a Mission creator Chad Hardy -- who was excommunicated from the church in part because of this calendar series – is a strong supporter of same-sex marriage and gay rights.

Proceeds from calendar sales go to several different charities selected by the models. Take a look at a sneak peak from this year’s calendar on the following pages. For more information or to order the 2010 calendar, visit www.mormonsexposed.com.

ihave read the negative comments said about my church. it is one of the few churches that still has standards and has not surrendered to the current poltical correctness of the world. this church reaches out in love to all who are engaged in deviant behavior but it does not condone the behavior,[ homosexuality, fornication adultry gay marriage, adultry] guilt and remorse are good ,its important to know right from wrong. those of you who desdain this church calling it bigoted ,intolorant in my opinion believe in relavatism, you stand for nothing but will accept every kind of behavior if its fashionable in the current world. the lds church is not for you .you would not be happy as a member of it.

btw...that's not just my experience. I have many gay Mormon friends from all over the country who have the same shared experiences. Feeling like failures because we were not able to "pray away the gay". Being filled with guilt and remorse, lying to our friends and family as to why we were not passing, blessing or partaking of the sacrament. Freightened and embarrassed as we gained the courage to confide in our Bishop, on to have him bring in Counselors and Elders to participate. Wondering every time some one glanced at us sideways if our secret had leaked out.

@shawn... I don't know what branch or ward you grew up in, but this Mormon experienced nothing but critisism and disdain. From 14 -18 until I left the church, I was reminded continuously that I was and abomination. Prayed over with "laying on of hands" to rebuke the evil spirits that were drawing me away from the righteous path. Discouraged in participating in my priestly duties or partaking in the sacrament. Yes there are good Christian Mormons out there who accept you as you are, but it is not the way of the church. If it were they would not be aligned with Evergreen International.

i find the intollorance of many people here to be disgusting...... the lds church IS accepting of homosexuality but not accepting of the promiscuity that a good portion of gay men have. as a gay man and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints i have found it very comforting to have a "family" that i have in the church and they have been very good to me as well. so before you dole out critisim on a faith that you never experienced, just take a look at yourself and think who the hipocrite really is

Yes tolerance is a good thing. I could agree with some aspects of your thinking, were it not for the fact that the Mormon church goes out of its way to hurt people who are simply asking to be able to marry. They also use barbaric methods to try to "re-program" some of the unfortunate gay people who have fallen into its clutches. So please don't talk to us about their being a benign organization. They destroy the lives of gay people.
