Huckabee: Gay Marriage Leads to Polygamy

MIKE HUCKABEE ON KATIE COURIC X390 (GRAB) | ADVOCATE.COM

Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee says he's not necessarily against gay marriage, but he's really a supporter of traditional marriage.

In an interview with CBS News anchor Katie Couric on Tuesday, Huckabee said the basis of marriage is procreation; children ideally need a man and woman as parents he said.

He added that changing the boundaries of marriage would be restricted before they become too loose.

“Can we change it to multiple spouses?” he asked. “If not, why not? You know, I hear people say, 'Well, what would be wrong?' What would be wrong, then, with a man having two or three or six or seven wives? Or a woman having six or seven husbands all at the same time?”

Couric quoted gay Arkansas state senator Kathy Webb, who has said the former governor doesn't seem to have a lot of tolerance and goodwill toward gay people.

"I am very disappointed to hear that. I don't think it's a matter of tolerance and goodwill. It's a matter of changing marriage. I can argue that people who want to change marriage are angry at me because I want to keep it like it is. I don't think it has to be a personal point of anger."

Huckabee, a former Baptist minister, openly supports a constitutional amendment to define marriage as a partnership for only for one male and one female. He also supports the military's current ban on openly gay and lesbian service members.

Don't waste your breath refuting the "logic" of Huckabee's reasoning for being against marriage equality. His is an intellectually bankrupt position and he knows it. Unfortunately, the "liberal media" doesn't ever call him out on it. They just accept it and move on. They don't ever really challenge him on the logic of it all.

You're a big phony and a fake you ugly primate. And no, you are no damn conservative. You are just a religious hack who attacks other people's religion too. You are a self contradicting poor excuse of a politician and I can't wait for Fox to show you the door as your show stinks and is tanking in the ratings, even Bret Beair and Red Eye is beating your ass. And please do us a favor and crawl underneath a rock when 2012 comes as we have an election to win. And most people and conservatives (not associated with the republican party) are fed up with you and don't care what you have to say about marriage. People are still debating the issue and you don't care about it, you only use this issue to appear like a conservative. What a fraud.

I am sure similar things were being said in regard to inter-racial marriage. Fast forward to now...and look...the world hasn't ended, people aren't marrying their animals. Fear and ignorance is no excuse to uphold discrimination.

I have no opinion on gay marriage but gay people need to be protected at work by a Federal Law. This discrimination is a huge probelm.

I can imagine this breeder going to his hometown market looking for a woman to procreate. I can imagine that his marriage is a breeding mission, with little or no love at all. He got what he deserved, what we surely do not deserve is these politicos that conceive marriage as a meat factory and deny others their rights and happiness.
