Crucial DADT Hearing Next Thursday

STANLEY X390 (FAIR USE) | ADVOCATE.COM

The confirmation hearing for Clifford Stanley, a retired general who has been nominated to a key post in the Department of Defense, has been scheduled for Thursday, November 19, at 9:30 a.m.

President Barack Obama nominated Stanley to be undersecretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, the position within the Pentagon that oversees the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.

A spokesperson for Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand told The Advocate last month that this “will be the hearing to watch and a critical prelude to the public debate about ‘don't ask, don't tell.”

More information on Stanley's background can be found here.
