Adam Lambert Is Sorry ... Sort Of

Adam Lambert is apologizing for his performance on theAmerican Music Awards ... sort of. The American Idol runner-up explains what was going through his head leading up to the much-maligned performance on Tuesday’s EllenDeGeneres Show, saying he thinks people were offended because they “aren’t used to seeing gay men portrayed like that on TV.”

“I forgot that this is the first time people were seeing me on TV again, after Idol, and I didn’t really think about that as objectively as I might have wanted to,” he tells DeGeneres on today’s show.

“I think in hindsight, I look back on it and I go, 'OK, maybe that wasn't the best first impression to make again or the first second impression.' I had a good time up there ... I had fun ... I respect people, and I feel like people walked away from that feeling disrespected, and I would never intend to disrespect anybody.”

DeGeneres quickly followed Lambert’s explanation with some words of her own. “I feel like, if you’re going to be offended by a show of sexuality onstage, then you should be offended by all shows of sexuality — it should be all forms.”

"Adam you should be ashamed and embaressed for yourself, your display or performance that you call it was a poor way to portray the gay community in a vital time of issues at hand with our lifestyles" I as a gay male do not feel that it was appropriate and I can present many of gay and open american guy's and gals alike that think that it was far over the top and beyond anything that we would want to be associated with. Props, to you for not carring about other's feelings or thoughts but we are looking for equality and not trying to push into anyones face that were here and queer! They all know this already......

There was nothing WRONG with his performance, at all! People need to get over this nudity/sexual insecurity that (American) Society is obsessed with concealing. Especially if that sexuality is gay oriented. So he shoved a guys crotch in his face, so he kissed a guy?!?! WOOPTY FUCKING DOO. And then everyone goes running screaming SAVEEE THEEEE CHILDREEENN. Meanwhile those same people take their children out and by them action figures and or let them watch movies or television shows with extreme violence. Hypocrisy at its best. Also I can walk down the street in Manhattan and see billboards and signs with heterosexual sexuality but god forbid its same sex. Then all hell breaks loose.

There is NOTHING offensive, or base about sexuality. Logically thinking about it, we as a society celebrate gastronomy, art, music, for their ability elicit intense "feelings". Sex dose exactly this on a very diffrent level. It is a singular human experience that combines the excites the visceral and the emotional to the highest levels possible. If you cant see the beauty in sex, you are just dumb. Using sex to send a message is no less honorable than singing it, or painting.

I think he should get props for pushing the envelope. The only time change happens is when people demand change; one type of sexuality expression shouldn't be scoffed or banned because it may not be in the majority's opinion.

I have been and am equally offended by overt sexual displays period - regardless of being straight or gay. Truly talented and gifted performers have no need to lower themselves to that level.

Stop fucking apologizing already. People who have a problem with seeing gay people acting like real human beings deserve to have it shoved in their faces.
