Johnston to Behar; Comfortable as Gay Icon

LEVI JOHNSTON ON JOY BEHAR SCREENGRAB X390 | Advocate.com

Now that his second set of Playgirl images has been released, Levi Johnston is making the press rounds again, this time stopping by The Joy Behar Show to talk about the pics, Sarah Palin, and being a gay icon.

Behar points out that it’s interesting Johnston seems so comfortable being a gay icon because he’s from Alaska and was brought up in a conservative household.

“I haven’t ever seen a gay guy in Wasilla, I don’t think,” Johnston tells Behar. “But once I started doing all of these tours and everything, you know ... they’re people too. It doesn’t matter to me.”

The two also talk about the rumored porn offers, to which Johnston responds: “I just didn’t want to regret something when I was older.”

Once again, the Prude Squad vents its bitter bullshit. So you don't think Johnston is sexy? Then don't look at his pics! But don't put down somebody else for who they find attractive. And the Advocate didn't call him an icon, Behar did -- maybe that's a stretch, but you can't fault the magazine for it. I think he's hot, I'm amused by the whole story in light of his connection to Palin and I'm not a bit surprised that people are interested in reading about it. You can read see in the headline of the story what it's about -- if you're not interested, move on to the next story.

How sad to be so jealous of Levi and to even insult our good friend Joy Behar. If you don't like his looks (and I am SURE he looks better than any of these old hayseeds here) just turn the page.

Gay icon? #1-Who is this dude? #2-By this interview alone, it's very obvious that he's not intelligent. #3-Who is this dude? Marcus Patrick should be called a gay icon, not this scrub.

He's a very handsome man. Are there even gay icons anymore? Someone said in the fifties gay men all wanted to be Noel Coward (implying gay men had great aesthetic taste) and now we all want to be swimsuit models. I think there were more gay icons in the seventies and before and what we see now are smaller manifestations of that. Gay men now all want to be masculine and straight acting. Maybe auto mechanics or Dick Cheney can be gay icons.

Isn't his 15 minutes of fame up? Again why is the Advocate reporting about this moronic himbo? He can't form an intelligent sentence.

I do think that Joy is an incredible and understanding asset to the LGBT community-I've never seen or heard her turn on us. In all honesty, I think that she called him a gay icon to see how he would respond, not because she truly believes he is one. From what I've heard (and I don't know a lot about Levi) he's not very comfortable around LGBT folks. I think Behar made a deliberate and calculated attempt (much to her credit) to force him to welcome and accept us as he surprisingly did. His mannerisms and the way he spoke didn't convince me that he is truly accepting but nonetheless, he at least said he supported us, be it good or bad.
