N.Y. Marriage Advocates: "We Will Not Go Away"

The Empire State Pride agenda, the statewide LGBT rights organization in New York, released a video on Friday in response to the stinging vote against the marriage equality bill in the state senate on December 2.

The video, shown below, thanks the 24 Democratic senators who voted for the bill, and it warns the 38 senators, including all 30 Republicans and eight Democrats, who voted against the bill that, “We will not go away.”

Footage includes the speech from Sen. Diane Savino of Staten Island, whose pop culture-based analysis of the shortcomings of straight marriages has had hundreds of thousands of views online.

While there is no plan to raise the marriage equality bill again in the immediate future, advocates have vowed to support primary opponents against senators who rejected the bill.

Protest straight marriages, Mark? Why? So we can unknowingly piss off a couple who might have been supportive of our plight to begin with? Vote out incumbents who are against marriage equality, fine I'm with you. Piss off the rank and file citizen by civil disobedience simply because we don't get to marry? No, that's completely counterproductive.

I'm sure the 38 senators who voted against same sex civil marriage equality are "worried." The way to get full citizenry is to work long and hard to get fair, pro-gay politicians at the primary and election stages into office, stage civil disobedience (like every time a straight person gets married we are there with signs screaming that we want the same rights), and be on the offensive by suing the Catholic Church for being a political organization yet tax exempt, doing press conferences to expose the secrets of the 38 senators, stop paying taxes until we are full citizens, and post ourselves outside the homes of the 38 senators asking them why our tax dollars pay for their family benefits but they won't allow us the same benefits, and claiming as our slave (It's in the Bible.) any black senator who voted against us due to biblical teachings. We make it so easy for them to discriminate against us. I'm sure they are sitting in their mansions now laughing at us.
