Nurse Jackie to Be Less Gay

Haaz Sleiman Edie Falco Nurse Jackie x390 (hbo) | ADVOCATE.COM

Haaz Sleiman, the Lebanon-born actor who plays Edie Falco’s gay confidant and fellow nurse “Mo-Mo” De La Cruz on Nurse Jackie, will not return for season 2 of the Showtime hit, reports Entertainment Weekly.

A rep for Showtime confirmed that Sleiman is no longer on the series but offered no specifics. Sleiman’s personal rep reveals that Nurse Jackie producers felt “the character’s storyline ran its course. We were surprised. It came out of left field.” The series is scheduled to return for its second season March 22.

That sucks. That's just one more show that I won't be watching next year. He is adorable and the main reason I watched it. Oh well... Are they suggesting that Showtime is going less gay too?

too bad--he added some grit and realism to the show--the gay male nurse of color, but not a stereotype. gives less reason to watch. i guess they wouldn't want to suggest gay men work in the health professions.

Phillip - obtuse and irrelevant as usual, with a little flavor of covert hate to boot. At least you are consistent.

Well that sucks. And makes little sense... while he didn't get a lot of play, it seemed like season one was about introducing these characters, and it wouldn't take a lot of imagination to give him a decent storyline. Plus, he's a good actor (see "The Visitor," for instance). I'm betting there's some other issue. Difficulty to work with, maybe? There were two gay nurses on the show, so are they keeping the other guy?
