Gareth Thomas Needs Some Lovin'

In an in-depth interview given the day after he came out last month and just published Sunday, rugby legend Gareth Thomas tells Wales on Sunday that “I wanna live and laugh as much as I did when I was married.”

The Cardiff Blues center was candid in telling the paper about his first encounters with men and said that cheating on his estranged wife, Jenna, was something he would feel guilty about for the rest of his life. But he also talked about his excitement about finding a man to start a relationship with.

He said, “I know a lot of men in the gay world are looking for love. I’ve done this as well in the hope that I can find somebody.

“I wouldn’t be ashamed to walk down the street hand in hand with a man. I don’t think it would detract from my masculinity or who I am.

“Externally, I may look like a tough fucker, but emotionally I’m soft as ... I’m caring. I’ve got a lot of love to give people. I’d love to be in a relationship where I can show affection and love like that.”

Well he's a rich white man who plays sports so I dont think he will have any difficulty finding "love", but I guess that depends on how you define that word. Now if he were a poor disabled queer person of color he'd have a snow balls chance in hell...

Now if only Ovie Mughelli would handle his recent outing by a disgruntled ex with some class. He has a great opportunity to comes out and own his sexuality. Instead of all this payoff to exes to disappear, getting attorneys involved, having all these details with pics, receipts, etc. come out. He's probably just hoping the whole thing goes away, but an active and out proud NFL player could have some impact.

I bet nobody would ever dare mess with this guy or with his man if they were walking hand-in-hand on the streets! He may look like a tough f*cker on the outside, indeed! Good for him, such good courage would make him a great role model. Best of luck to him, and hopefully he'll find the happiness he seeks.

As a Rugby fanatic myself; I can tell you it took no small amount of courage for this man to do what he did. Rugby, much like our football, etc., has traditionally been a macho and, by extension, homophobic sport. With PROMINENT rugby players coming out; and others expressing their opposition to homophobia, perhaps this sport, so dear to me, will be the leader in dispelling myths about gay men in professional sports. I truly hope he finds a loving partner. This man had paid his dues!
