Cooper: Haitian Adoption Story False

ANDERSON COOPER 201001 X390 (GETTY) | ADVOCATE.COM

Anderson Cooper has issued a statement in response to a National Enquirer report that he is planning to adopt a Haitian orphan after being moved while reporting on the region’s devastating earthquake for CNN.

Cooper released the following statement to Towleroad: "While the plight of children in Haiti has touched us all, and I continue to cover the situation there closely, stories about me adopting a baby are false. I am not adopting a child, Haitian or otherwise."

Moments later, Cooper tweeted, "While the plight of children in Haiti has touched us all, stories about me adopting a baby are completely false."

If he doesn't want to adopt a kid from that god forsaken place, the least he should do is to volunteer to sponsor a kid a two from there. He's rich enough to afford that fake tan (not cheap to maintain that level of consistency, especially in the NYC market), sending a few dollars over there so a few kids can eat shouldn't set him back much. I admit I'm biased. Ever since "The DaVinci Code", I distinctively dislike albinos.

Mark, I understand where you're coming from but he has a right to his privacy. His relationships and his sexuality are nobody's business.

He didn't mention a boyfriend, but he didn't deny that part of the story either. That, at least, counts for more than all the closeted celebrities who deny their sexuality, marry cross-sex partners, ect. I do agree with Ken that the coverage does seem biased, even if I might be more inclined to giving people their privacy, it's not fair to cover one and not the other.

Um, the National Enquirer didn't say that Anderson was adopting the baby. It said that Anderson was adopting a baby with his boyfriend. Why are you and Troll Road protecting him from leaving that part of the story out? You didn't do the same for Jodie Foster when you reported about her break up based on an Enquirer story.

He doesn't mention his boyfriend (yet speaks openly about his parents and brother). His signal is that being gay is so dirty and horrible that he can't even talk about it. More young gays will commite suicide no doubt.
