Counter Ad Launched Against Tebow

SEAN JAMES PLANNED PARENTHOOD AD X390 (GRAB) | ADVOCATE.COM

Planned Parenthood released an ad Wednesday countering the Tim Tebow spot that is set to air during this Sunday's Super Bowl.

The ad features former Viking Sean James and Olympic gold medalist Al Joyner, who say that while they respect Tebow's pro-life stance, they are also "working toward the day where ... every woman's decision about her health and her family will be respected."

“Planned Parenthood respects the ability of every woman to make important personal medical decisions for herself and her family, including the decision by Pam Tebow more than 20 years ago to carry her high-risk pregnancy to term and deliver her son Tim," Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards said in a statement. "The Tebows’ story is compelling, and central to it is the fact that we must respect the ability of every woman to make important medical decisions for herself and her family, after receiving counsel from medical professionals, religious leaders, family members, or others she trusts."

Tebow will appear in an ad for antigay group Focus on the Family alongside his mother, who decided not to abort him when she was pregnant with him despite warnings from doctors. Tebow, a senior at the University of Florida, is a Heisman Trophy winner and prospect for the upcoming NFL draft.

Dear Sean, do you have a spare time to study history or you are just playing football and make money? Do you know "The Negro Project" on which Planned Parenthood is founded? If you do not know, here is very important history you need to know: " The aim of the program was to restrict—many believe exterminate—the black population. Under the pretense of “better health” and “family planning,” Margaret Sanger (the founder of Planned Parenthood) cleverly implemented her plan. What's more shocking is Sanger's beguilement of black America's crème de la crème—those prominent, well educated and well-to-do—into executing her scheme. Some within the black elite saw birth control as a means to attain economic empowerment, elevate the race and garner the respect of whites." do you want to be one of those?

Nate, in Brazil, raises an important point. IF abortion was illegal; Mrs. Tebows 'choice' was no ''choice' at all! This fact should be brought up and given media coverage. The whole point of the ad is to show how 'wrong' abortion is. IF Mrs. Tebow had no legal choice but to proceed with her pregnancy; it takes all the wind out of her suppossedly 'moralistic' decision. I also think sending the kids to Focus on the Family is a great idea! If they're so 'pro-life'; let them deal with the consequences of their convictions.

I think this is a beautiful ad and a great idea. Tebow is entitled to his own opinion, and so are we. Imagine that, a world where people who are actually here get to make decisions based on knowledge, amazing concept

Dan in Florida...excellent suggestion since state and federal funding has dropped dramatically and these throw away kids are really suffering right now. I say they adopt every kid currently in the system then we'll talk banning abortions. Nice perspective!

The main focus of Focus on the Family is not anti-abortion but anti-gay everything. This is just a ploy using Tebow to advance their hate-filled agenda under the cloak of a prolife message. By the way, abortion was illegal in the Phillipines at the time of Mrs. Tebow's supposed "choice". I'm deeply disappointed with CBS for having participated in and facilitated this sham.

Here's a solution. Ban all abortions - period. Have all women that are emotionally, physically or financially unable to raise a child send the newborn to Focus on the Family to raise. Since they also object to gay adoptions, let them raise the children or shut the fuck up.

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Why are people getting so hot under the collar about the Tim Tebow ad? I am staunchly pro choice and this does not offend me in the least. This is what America is all about, the freedom to make up your own mind. So what if his mother say she did not choose abortion, exactly whom does this harm? I seriously doubt any female watching in the audience is going to make a decision on such a personal issue watching a thirty second ad. I think the main reason is that the sponsor is Focus On The Family. These religious organizations like most churches subscribe to the same philosphy of traditional families and if I am not mistaken all the campaigning and boycotting over the years have never caused any of these places to go out of existence. A couple of years ago the furor was about the Boy Scout and their standing on issues. Everyone called for them to lose their tax exempt status and funding. Well fast forward and nothing really changed. They are still up and running and getting bigger.

If Tim Tebow, with the help of Focus on the Family, wants to become football's resident bigot (aka Reggie White), then its gloves off and let him have it.
