Aaron Carter Poses for No H8

aaron carter no h8 pic large

Aaron Carter, the pop star younger brother of Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, stripped his shirt off and posed for the No H8 Campaign in Los Angeles last week. The campaign raises awareness and money for gay rights.

Carter was quick to post the photos on his Twitter page, telling followers, “OH YEAHH!!! IM A SINGLE MAN!!”

The singer, who made headlines for his reported drug use and legal troubles before making a turnaround last year while competing on Dancing With the Stars, has been tweeting to followers recently that he is hard at work on his health.

He is currently in the studio recording his first solo album in more than six years.

I am very handsome and I am also very humble about my looks. Don't hate me because I'm beautiful or because I just don't want ugly people posing for marriage equality.

Uh, I should have also written that I wouldn't consider the people "ugly." Narrow & extreme definitions of beauty are a curse to all. How many "beautiful people" actually feel ugly & unattractive. Lots!

"I think the campaign for same-sex marriage is for ugly people too." -Franz. I agree and think we need all the help we can get. Anyway, your comment gave me an idea. I think someone should do a parody ad for MOH8 (as in MORE H8 & hoMO H8) and use the GEICO caveman characters. There could be three of them and they could be doing the see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil poses. Because the people who hate us are living in the f*cking past. And if the SCOTUS fails us, then it's the newer generations of voters who are going to secure equality for everybody.

This campaign is for equality. Adam Bouska is being very smart here. While he does have many different people in his NOH8 campaign he does use celebrities to push the message out to the Mainstream An example of this is the McCain's photos gaining part of the front page of The Sydney Morning Herald. The ordinary people just do not get the media attention in the same way. So stop bellyaching and start supporting a very good campaign that does help to raise the awareness that claims that gays have equality already are false. They are in fact hate.

No one has faith in celebrities, but I just think it is irrelevant who is posing.

Celebrities aren't role models, visit tmz.com or perezhilton.com and you'll see many celebrities are drunk drivers, wife cheaters, drug users, irresponsible people who just happen to be famous. While Americans will see a movie if it has a celebrity it is a whole different story if the celebrity tells you something like "stop driving SUV's to save the environment" while they show up to the Oscars with their gas guzzling limos. Speaking of the Oscars, look at the ratings, hardly anyone watches that show. In fact, the word "celebrity" is doubtful since any schmuck can become a celebrity, watch Jersey Shore lately? Celebrities don't matter, they are not taken seriously, Rush Limbaugh has more influence than 100 celebrities combined. Obama's victory had more to do with him being black and a populist than whatever support he got from Hollywood. So please, don't put your faith in celebrities because the rest of "flyover" country doesn't.

The purpose of this campaign is to show the country that the gay and lesbian community is being supported in their quest for marriage equality by well know celebrities. Like it or not, celebritites are role models, especially for younger people. If an Aaron Carter fan is against or on-the-fence about gay marriage, seeing Carter's support of gay marriage can help that person open their mind more and hopefully eventually support it too. And, yes, most celebrities are attractive. But to be fair, the NOH8 website does post NOH8 photos submitted by ordinary, non-celebrities. Let's not be critical of who supports us. Let's be grateful and hope that the support grows until we are all treated equal.

I have no problems with Will & Grace, Will was hot but he didn't look like a typical gay man. It's also true that we don't get to pick who gets photographed but that's not important, whoever is doing this campaign needs to shoot a wide variety of people because it's gonna take a wide variety of people to support same-sex marriage for this issue to win. Why not shoot Wanda Sykes for example? She's certainly not the typical anorexic white twink. Or why not Burt Reynolds? Or are men with a hairy chest excluded from being sexy? And why must we only shoot celebrities? Not everyone likes celebrities, in fact, if celebrities mattered that much George W. Bush would have never been elected president twice.

Abercrombie and Bitch is soft gay porn for straight men, but you just make the assumption that that's what everyone but you like. It is a certain select group of people who pick these photographs and that doesn't mean they represent all of US. Unless you can assume that WE have all had a say in who gets photographed it's really not fair to point fingers. But I do think that representation is important. I mean there is a reason that the image of being gay is male, upper-class, white, trendy and anorexic, but I didn't see enough people complaining about that terrible show Will and Grace. I rather think it's great that people are agreeing to be photographed to advocate for what is right they are not advocating for gay men, it's for equality.

Isn't James Gandolfini a celebrity? Must all the celebrities look the same/ You know, I work in advertising and what works for Abercrombie & Finch DOES NOT work for a broad audience of Americans who come in all shapes and sizes. But what do I know? Gay activists know everything, that's why they lost the same-sex marriage battle in all states but Vermont and Massachusetts. And by the way, I'm NOT against beautiful people posing, what I support is PHYSICAL diversity! Even in the gay community we're not all a bunch of twinks, capish?
