A customer service employee for British mobile network operator Vodafone was suspended for posting an antigay and misogynistic tweet to the company’s official Twitter account on Friday.

According to The Guardian, the company was forced to apologize to its followers after the obscene tweet, which denigrated gay men and women, generated hundreds of complaints.

“The message appeared on Vodafone's official Twitter account, which is used by the company to deal with customer complaints,” reported The Guardian. “Instead of the usual helpful hints on how to make the most of its range of handsets or direct responses to individual customer service queries, VodafoneUK's 8,824 followers were treated this afternoon to a message reading ‘VodafoneUK is fed up of dirty homo's and is going after beaver.’”

According to The Guardian, the tweet originated from Vodafone’s customer service center in Stoke. The individual responsible for the tweet was suspended, the company said.

In my experience as a working Brit, they'll suspend him pending an investigation which will result in him getting his ass fired. Of course, I might just call up Vodafone to suggest it anyway.
