Liz Cheney for DADT Repeal

Liz Cheney, daughter of former vice president Dick Cheney, said in an interview Thursday that it is time for the military to end the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.

Cheney, often considered a potential political candidate, spoke with the D.C. bureau of Talking Points Memo  at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington.

“It's time for it to end," said Cheney, according to Talking Points Memo. "The Joint Chiefs, certainly the chairman of the Joint Chiefs, has been clear about that. and I think that the country really is at a place now where it's time for it to end."

Earlier this week, the former vice president and Defense secretary Cheney told ABC News that he supported DADT repeal. His other daughter, Mary, is a lesbian and has one child, and another expected, with her partner, Heather Poe.

Never thought I'd would agree with Dick and Liz Cheney but on DADT and gay marriage up to the states is just intelligence at its greatest evolution and pure stand for American democracy.

I would have to say that Cheney being for gay rights and being silent when he was President breaks about even with Obama who claims to be for gay rights but does nothing. It's just to embarrass Obama. Politics trumps belief. Until the electorate and the constituents of the GOP start demanding gay rights no one is making a move. And that isn't going to happen unless they think that gay voters will be swing voters next election.

Cheney has always been for gay rights, Bush was for the federal marriage amendment. But clearly it is political, but actually it really isn't that difficult to completely overshadow the Obama Administration and the Democratic Party on gay issues. Cheney actually got things done when he was President (de jure President) to bad those things were all about war. It looks like this Administration is basically continuing all of his policies. The only difference is Obama does it with a smile *jazz hands*

Um, where was Mary, Dick and all of that evil Cheney spawn when they actually had the power to do something. Oh that's right, they were busy promoting a federal marriage amendment with Bush. Doesn't any of the readers on here find it odd that the Mary and the other Cheney ilk have conveniently decided to support something now that they are out of power!? This is politics pure and simple and any gay person that believes this skank and her father are more progressive on gay issues than Obama is crazy. Look at the record. The man has a gay daughter and can't find any opportunity to address gay people and support our rights publicly on anything. If you believe these people are progressive, you will probably believe David Duke is a member of the NAACP.

As much as it pains me to say it, Dick Cheney is more progressive on gay rights than Obama. Cheney supports full marriage equality and is unwavering about it. I'm just sayin...NOM doesn't use quotes from Cheyney to bolster their position.
