HIV-Positive Man Accused of Exposing Dozens of Women to Virus

TONY PERKINS X390 (SCREEN GRAB) | ADVOCATE.COM

Tony Perkins, an Indiana man accused of exposing as many as 100 women to the AIDS virus through unprotected sex, has pleaded guilty to exposing two partners to the virus.

State health records reveal that Perkins knew he was HIV-positive. "The state law states that if you do have AIDS, you have to disclose it to any of your sexual partners. He has admitted, and he actually was somewhat remorseful about it, but at the same time, he blames a woman for giving it to him," said Greenwood, Ind., police chief Joe Pitcher.

Pitcher tells AOL News his department will file 24 more felony counts against Perkins. Police believe he may have had unprotected sex with scores of women since he contracted HIV in 2004.

I don't believe the poster "Ben" is really gay but an internet troll seeking attention and provocation here. Based on an article from the police, he is ready to give someone with HIV the death penalty. The real "Aids Monster" isn't anyone with HIV but the US government that has killed so many people since the start of the Aids crisis. I watched a friend die because the FDA took YEARS to approve Fluconizole- an Aids infection medication that is effective and was already saving lives in France. We don't need hysteria against anyone with Aids. We need people like "Ben" to get a brain transplant. I don't believe this story. I don't believe so many women would be so stupid to have unprotected sex with him. And if they decided to do so, they need to take some responsiblity, too.

I always keep a form in my nightstand drawer that has my recent health status from my Doctor. When bringing home a date I discuss on webcam and record their confirmation of understanding the data, then I have my date sign that they are aware of my status and because I plan ahead so well I have a kidnapped Notary in my guest bedroom closet who then notarizes the informational form. Did you know that anyone at anytime can LIE and say you didn't tell them. How fair is that? Ben you need to develop some maturity and perspective.

Hey Ben, What about situations in which two people are in a committed relationship and they are sero-discordant, one poz one not. IF the Poz is healthy, no STD's other than HIV and has a viral load that is undetectable there is a 1,000,000 chance that they will transmit. I have had two partners in 19 years in relationships. We had unprotected sex always. They we informed we made intelligent decisions. One of my partners went in for testing and answered honestly that we had unprotected sex. I was contacted by a state worker and went through Hell. He never developed HIV and it has been 3 years. My other partner also never contracted HIV. The government has a knee jerk reaction and people won't tell you the truth about sero-discordant studies although there have been several international studies that show the same thing. The governments punishment is the same whether or not you reveal status or transmit the virus! Intellectually constipated.

Ben, How noble of you to speak up on behalf of the fairer sex. They need protecting from the big, bad world that they can't comprehend with their little tiny minds and of course Daddy Bang-Bang in the Bed-Bed has ho help them take care of their bodies and health cause they just can't be held responsible for their actions. I think I'm going to vomit!

Ben, take the advice below: try a dildo instead of joining the government attack on people with HIV. I have no idea what transpired between these couples and it isn't for me to pass judgement. I do know that talk does not take the place of action and nothing negates our personal responsiblity to use protection with a stranger.

I'm so sorry for railing against someone who intentionally infected 100 people with HIV, and sticking up for his victims who want to bring him to justice. That is so wrong of me, and obviously indicates that I am a lonely and miserable person. And as far as you implying that I am a republican or whatever, well if you had read my other posts on this site you would know that is far from the truth. I practise safe sex, and have avoided HIV. I also remember that when I was younger, I made the occasional stupid decision when it came to sex. I have close friends who were not so lucky. I know firsthand that AIDS is a horrible disease, and infecting others with IS and SHOULD BE a crime.

To Ben: Your ignorant and full of hatred posts on this topic and many others only makes me believe you are a lonely, sad person who is a loser in life and vents here against the world. It is not for you to pass judgement on other people's sex lives. I'm sorry that you view women as passive (part of your party line?) but they, also, should have had safe sex instead of crying the blues about this man. Someone you just meet who you take to bed just may have any number of diseases so you owe it to yourself to use protection. I will not join in burning at the stake anyone who has Aids when it is the US government who has killed so many. He didn't need to tell anyone crap, they needed to protect themselves. Next. I pick up guys in my local gay bar. I don't demand to see blood test results (as if that would protect me) I DEMAND WE HAVE SAFE SEX. They can TELL me they are Zsa Zsa Gabor, it doesn't matter. WE STILL HAVE SAFE SEX

This is another attempt to criminalize people with AIDS instead of the real criminals who have killed so many gay men. I lived in New York in the 1980's and saw people die of AIDS related infections who could not afford to go abroad while the FDA took years to study new medications. Everyone is responsible for using condoms in this day and age. The man pictured above was not the only one who should have used a condom- the women he was with had a choice, too. It takes two to tango. I never ask anyone I pick up in a bar about their health status and I don't expect they will talk about it, either. I just treat anyone I don't know very well as someone who might have an STD and take precautions. The government will never set any rules about my sexual life- what I do or say. They have tried for centuries and failed. We make our own rules. I have the self respect to want to protect myself from disease. PS- Ben, try a dildo- your constant hate on this board is boring
