HuffPo: Bert and Ernie Are Gay

BERT AND ERNIE X390

The Huffington Post has compiled a list of classic TV programs the networks didn’t want you to know were really about gay people.

Dealing with characters from the leads of Kate & Allie to Bert and Ernie on Sesame Street, writer Alex Leo argues that in order to keep characters closeted, “ridiculous back stories and ludicrous plot twists were introduced to explain same-sex couples raising children, living together, or being psychiatrists.”

Bert and Ernie being Gay wasn't news in 1969, so why is it news now? It really was a secret to no one who watched the show from day one.
