He mentions it is taboo not against the Koran which it is not. Being a Muslim under Islaam you walk a fine line, what the Koran says and what the Mullah wants to interpret it to say. They make up rules on wim, not on what Allah might stand for. For instance there is no place that says a woman must cover her face that is an arbitrary rule set up by men. To Muslims homosexuality is wrong because it is counter to their society which means an unmarried older man can sleep with younger men so they will not be tempted to have sex wihout marriage, in a way a very early form of birth control. The Hammas or communal bath were famous as brothels for gay sex, it is not homosexual if you don't call it that. When the middle east was still called Persia, it was amore understanding society, but like many other locales in the world European society manged to impose their hangups and phobias. Funny Europe at the time was the gayest place in the world, ask the Victorians.

Of course, the mere fact that the older suspect's name is 'Basher' has no bearing on this criminal case, its significance to society, or any other rational matter. I offer this observation only as an interesting footnote to the story, just one of those strange twists of irony that do, however, sometimes seem to occur more often than might be expected by randomness alone. And if it were not so obviously impossible, the occurrence of too many such meaningful coincidences might even seem purposeful, as if some inconceivable intelligence, or perhaps fate, were toying with us, for reasons that we can almost perceive, but only dimly, playfully taunting us by dangling these unlikely oddities right in front of our faces, always giving eerie hints, but never solid proof, that, as Shakespeare's Hamlet once said to his overly rational school mate, "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."

"not in custody at this time..."WTF??? i live an hour and a half fro seattle and others have been jailed on lesser charges. i just dont get it. dont people realize it is a felony today to gay bash and that the twinkie defense no longer works or applies in the courts? of course, this particular case will be "probably" be given a down grade since it "may" involve cultural and religious beliefs. forgive me for being the center village idiot, but i was always under the impression that allah was all merciful and forgiving and EMBRASING OF ALL DIFFERENCES. and NO WHERE in anyone's "bible" does it stipulate, "go fourth and kill those who are gay or lesbian..." am i missing something here? i say regardless of religious convictions, prosecute to the fullest extent of the hate crimes law...but in the end, remind them "not to drop their soap"....
