ManCrunch Offers Ashburn Free Membership

ROY ASHBURN X390 (GETTY) | ADVOCATE.COM

Gay website ManCrunch.com has offered newly out California state senator Roy Ashburn a free membership if he agrees to stop voting against gay rights.

Ashburn, who was arrested on DUI charges last week after leaving a Sacramento gay bar, came out on a radio show Monday. The senator from Bakersfield has a history of voting antigay, using the defense that he voted the way he thinks his constituents would have wanted.

“We are excited to offer Senator Ashburn the partnership opportunity and provide him with an appropriate platform to promote the importance of seeking true relationships in a safe environment,” a ManCrunch.com representative said in a statement. “ManCrunch.com provides cutting-edge dating technology and we would love for Senator Ashburn to experience the site’s state-of-the-art services.”

ManCrunch.com submitted an ad for consideration for the 2010 Super Bowl upon learning a Focus on the Family ad would be airing. It was declined.

Let me get this straight (?): This little Hitler staged a demonstration against our rights, voted against us time and time again. He was caught driving a taxpayer supplied auto when drunk after picking up a trick in a gay bar. After denial he is gay, he has decided to come out. (wow, what courage!) But not stop voting against us. So this Crunch decided to offer him a free membership if he would change his mind (?). I am not a vengeful person, but have self respect. I can not wish this awful person anything but ill in life. He needs to apologize for the harm he has done us instead of allowing bigots to say "See, even homosexuals are against equality". Do us all a favor please Ashburn: just die.

Nathan, why don't you go with Ashcan and suck George Bush? Yes, go deeper in the closet. Yes, spend your whole life against equal rights for gay people and expect a welcome from us once your closet door has been burned down. Not. This is the lowest scum on the face of the earth. The gay website (I've never even heard of it) should try elsewhere. We don't want him. He shouldn't be bribed to do the right thing and support equal rights. He should go to hell.

Can we drop the barbells on his head? His "coming out" was a smokescreen after his closet door was kicked in anyway. It is to create a circus to mask his drunken driving in a state car, a criminal offense. He is doing a Jim McGreevey. But even worse than ex Jersey Gov.McGreevey, he has been an active foe of equal rights for gay people while McGreevey only avoided the issue. He should drop dead instead of trying to get the tolerance OUR struggle has allowed. As far as the post below saying we have "all been in the closet"- speak for yourself! Not all of us have been filled with gay self hatred. I hate homophobes not gay rights. If this pig goes to that gym, I won't,

he should pay like everyone else. Enforcement of equal protection under the law is his job, he should receive no incentive for that. The offer was just tacky.

I will accept and forgive him if he stops voting against gay rights. We've all been in the closet, and some of us have been pushed deeper.

I'm sorry but how can the GAY COMMUNITY Accept this guy after being against US throughout his term. Just because he said he is Gay(Mainly because he got caught) doesn't mean we need to accept him. Yes we believe in love and peace and equal rights but when someone purposely tried to bring all of our beliefs down why should we comfort him. He will be hateful to the gay community because of his image and i agree Mancrunch just needs to stop.

This is another PR stunt by Mancrunch. This offer is silly. I guess he's probably one of the few married, Republikkkan, right-wing, gays that have actually come out of the closet. Most of them deny their homosexuality. "Me, queer? Are you kidding? I'm a married man with children." Ed Schrock and Larry Craig weren't interested in romance. They wanted a little nooky. What gay guy would even want to date this piece of crap? Craigslist is even too good for this Republikkkan loser. It's puzzling to me why he didn't get the cold shoulder at Faces. He's a hypocritical Republikkkan voting against gay rights. And he's an old fart. This married guy must not be playing with a full deck of cards. He was risking a lot by patronizing gay bars. His territory should have been escorts, airport restrooms, and parks.
