Two British students set a world record when they hugged for 24 hours straight, raising money for a local cancer treatment center.

Faisal Mohyud-Din and Mohammed Azeem surpassed the old record by more than eight hours by embracing for 24 hours and 17 minutes, according to BBC News.

The Salford University students raised money for the Christie Cancer Hospital, which is opening a new unit this week in Oldham, England. The hospital's logo represents an embrace.

Good for them! Any time the world gets to see two men embracing (regardless of sexual orientation!) it helps us, and these guys did it while contributing to a worthwhile cause. Thank you for reporting this!!

and when two people of the same sex, gay or straight can have intimate body contact for 24 hours, it's totally acceptable, they don't get the crap beaten out of them, and it can be associated with somthing really good for everyone straight and gay...i find it relevant to me and the lgbt community that i want to be a member of.

I am very much a part of the gay community. Probably much more than you, zz. (At least I don't use a pseudonym, like you.) And trhis is relevant to me. Why should you be the arbiter of what The Advocate publishes?

How is this Gay News? Come on, Advocate. That's great for them, really. I'm all for raising money for charity. But is this relevant to the GLBT community? No.
