Colin Farrell Calls For End to Bullying

Colin Farrell called for an end to homophobic bullying in a statement he issued to Belong To, an organization for LGBT youth in Ireland.

"Bullying is torture, it is another betrayal of basic human decency and its scars reach way into the future of its survivors," he  said on April 8. "The saddest truth is that not all children survive it. It is a potentially fatal societal illness and must be respected and not feared.  Respected and dealt with as a very real problem and as an adversary of a potentially harmonious world, that should have no place for bullies or bullying."

Farrell discussed growing up with his gay older brother, Eamon, and how he came home from school with blood on his shirt regularly.

"The beatings and taunting were very frequent for him and a constant part of his school years," Farrell said, noting he did not understand the difference between he and his brother. "If I did understand what difference was I understood it in the most pure and unaffected childlike way. To me then, as a child, difference meant being left out. Joy and laughter came with being included, being embraced, and BELONGING to."

I'm happy to hear that Colin has as big a schlong as he does a heart, but not being in bed with him, the schlong thing does me personally no good. His heart, however, is in the right place. What a great brother he is, defending an injustice that may have made him just as unpopular. I wish there were more non-gay allies speaking up. Those who do are great heroes to me. Thank you, Cyndi Lauper, for instance. Even in my more-supportive-than-most family, not one non-gay member has become better educated about issues that affect us, and not one has become an advocate the way Colin Farrell has. If only my step-sister had held off on her elaborate wedding until the lgbt members of her family were legally permitted to marry as well. Idealistic, yes, but why expect anything less? Okay, I've had my bitchy moment and can move on now, too.

I have never seen a bad picture of Colin Farrell. So tragic about his brother. Thank you Colin for speaking out. Since I can't bitch about anything, I have to say to Kenneth Harvey that he should have said, "...the difference between him and his brother", not "he and his brother". There, I feel better.

Colin Farrell is an all around good guy. Plus, he's reportedly got the biggest Schlong in Hollywood. What's not to love?

Where'd you dig up that picture from? Unflattering pics like this are usually reserved for homophobes and people the Advocate doesn't like.
