Gay Zimbabweans Face Corrective Rape

HARARE, Zimbabwe X390 (WIKI) | ADVOCATE.COM

Some gay men and lesbians in Zimbabwe have been raped and forced into heterosexual marriages by people who seek to “convert” them from homosexuality, said an official from the U.S. State Department during a discussion about the agency’s annual human rights report.

According to the Associated Press, “Gay men were forced into heterosexual acts and lesbian women were raped, sometimes by male relatives, to teach them to change their ways, said Amanda Porter, political officer at the U.S. Embassy in Harare and compiler of the report.”

“Hate speech by politicians against the nation's small gay community fueled social pressures on families, Porter said,” according to the AP. “And crimes against human rights and sexual abuse against gays were rarely reported to police.”

President Robert Mugabe and Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai both have expressed personal abhorrence of gay people. Mugabe said gay rights would not be protected in a new Zimbabwe constitution, but Tsvangirai called for tolerance, the AP reports.

But of course, this story is probably a fabrication of the "homosexual agenda". Indeed, "Christian" (religious zealots) groups from the United states have been going to this country stressing the conversion of gay people for years, but they would "NEVER" emphasis these kinds of methods.

"I've helped thousands out of unwanted same sex attraction, Rachel, WITH LOVE AND COMPASSION". Indeed, people who follow your urgency of heterosexual conversion are quite enthusiastic to this method. Maybe ex-gay movement officials should set up some therapy for people with "unwanted heterosexual attraction" for those forced to undergo sex with the opposite gender- that of course, would follow that terrible thing called logic.

We should not be providing a dime in foreign aid to this country or others where hatred and violence is the acceptable norm of behavior. Why is there such silence on this issue? Where are the other minority groups? Imagine if an entire country had an official policy against black or jews? Lucky us -- our tax money funds homophobia in the U.S. and now, through foreign aid, funds hatred against us internationally. Isn't it great to live in America!

They're starving? They're religiously biased? They hate gay people? Surely manna from heaven is available. Send no food. Send no aid. Let them rot and pray for their food, a better government, and a society that's worth saving.

They don't like gay people (who don't hurt anyone by existing), but RAPE is acceptable to these creeps?? That's a crime I put right up there with murder.

Where do you even start with an article like this. I hope the Americans that went to Africa and started this new ball rolling are proud of themselves.

Is that a recent picture of idyllic city life in Zimbabwe? I seriously doubt it. Zimbabwe is an economic basket case today. It looks more like Rhodesia circa 1978 when it was under White minority rule. You can rest assured it certainly wasn't Mugabe who was responsible for building Harare (aka Salisbury).
