Lesbian Officer Back on Brink of Discharge

An Air Force officer who was told she would not be discharged even though she openly declared that she is a lesbian has learned she still may be discharged.

In July a male former officer who once dated Lt. Robin Chaurasiya provided her commanding officer with information proving she is gay. Officials dismissed the complaint, but Chaurasiya decided to come out publicly anyway. The Air Force general overseeing her case refused to recommend that she be let go.

However a more senior officer, Gen. Raymond E. Johns Jr., recommended Monday that she be honorably discharged, the Los Angeles Times reports. A final decision will be made by Air Force secretary Michael B. Donley.

"I am kind of heartbroken," she told the Times. "I felt my situation was hinting at changes. I really thought I would be able to lead the way for a more equal military."

However, the new directive to discharge Chaurasiya also stems from the fact that she and her partner entered into a civil union in New Hampshire in December.

The fact that her commanding officer chose NOT to pursue the matter; testifies to the fine job this officer is doing for the military. Only when those higher up got involved, did she find herself back in the hot seat. As to the 'hetero' male officer who 'outed' her; he sounds like a real piece of....! I applaud her courage and hope she stays in the service. You go, Lieutenant!!!!!

The article said this is going up to the 'Secretary of the Air Force.' This will demonstrate just how humane Gates' pronouncement holds true. It is apparent that she would not have said anything if this bastard officer wouldn't have blabbed. Of course having done that what did she have to lose? The Air Force in Rapid City discharged an enlisted lady because they were given information by the Rapid City cops on finding an 'Iowan marriage license' with her lover during a search regarding her spouse. Whats the difference between the treatment of the two. I would suggest one is an officer and the other enlisted. RHIP. [Rank has its privileges ]

Education of our children? Tell me, do you have kids? Because I sure don't and frankly, I'm sick of paying property taxes that finance public schools that give me no benefit. Just because some heterosexual decides to put his penis in a vagina doesn't mean I have to pay for their lifestyle choices. Secondly, I'm sick of this youth obsession. I'm 34 and unlike some people, I don't worship youth. How the hell are kids today going to mature if we keep telling them that they're so important? If anything, we're spoiling them rotten. I have seen in the workplace where some young know nothing feels he can dismiss his superiors with 5, 10, 20 or 30 years of experience. Guess what millennials, if you have all the answers then start your own company, if not, LEARN FROM YOUR ELDERS!

I really do not understand what the big deal is. How does your sexuality affect your work ethic or how well you do your job? IT DOESN'T! Why do people make issues that do not concern them their concern? If we paid more attention to the important things like the education of our children (who will soon be the leaders of our destiny) or all the natural disasters that have taken place since the year began ......The world would be a much better place.
