Pelosi Planning on DADT Vote in 2010

NANCY PELOSI X390 (GETTY) | ADVOCATE.COM

U.S. House speaker Nancy Pelosi said she plans for the House to vote on "don't ask, don't tell" by the end of 2010, according to the DC Agenda.

Drew Hammill, a spokesman for Pelosi, said Monday that it was the "speaker's intention that a vote will be taken this year."

The Military Readiness Enhancement Act is currently sponsored by Rep. Patrick Murphy, an Iraq war veteran, and was introduced in 2009 by former representative Ellen Tauscher, who left office for job in the Obama administration. There are 192 cosponsors of the bill.

DOMA, DADT, ENDA: I'd settle for 1 out of 3 by election day. I will vote third party otherwise.

By the end of the year is TOO LATE! Unless full repeal is attached to the defense authorization bill now it will never pass the House and Senate. Once the Republicans take over Congress in January DADT will be the unconstitutional law of the land forever. Wise up, Democrats! And what ever happened to ENDA and the repeal of the unconstitutional so called DOMA?

Don't you see the BS they are pulling? The Republicans WILL retake the Senate this fall. And when they do, they will refuse to let this legislation be depabted or voted on when it is scheduled in December. And then the Democrats will say: darn those republicans! We tried, can we have some more money? We are the ulitmate suckes, so desperate for any equality and the dems plays us over that. At least the repubs are honnest. This law won't be repealled.

RE: What happens next! "ALL LGBT people (self identified or not) STOP paying ALL state, federal, and local tax! THEN....everyone they know who is FOR equal treatment under the law, does the SAME THING.....then....if the bankrupt states do not oblige equality.....ALL WHO ARE IN FAVOR OF EQUALITY LEAVE THE US....then let the bible thumping backwater slugs try to make it on their own without the fabulousness that WE create. IF every GBLT person, AND every person that supports equality legislation left this country tomorrow....the US would be a bunch of stupid "fuck yer sister" rednecks that would not know how to rub two sticks together to make fire...it would be like taking 10,000 years off of humanity, and shifting it to some place more deserving. OR........WE (the EQUALITY BUNCH)..could just rise up and squash the stupid religious idiots! Your choice.

Republicans take over Congress. Republicans re-take Presidency. Benefits for federal employee's partners revoked. Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes act repealed. Constitutional Amendment bans gay marriage. More conservative justices are placed on Supreme Court. Lawrence v. Texas is overturned in the name of "State's Rights," being gay is criminalized in many states once again. As the Republicans are now saying, "Elections have consequences."

LOL, they some something will happen within the year - and then later spin it that action will begin before midnight Dec 31 at the end of the year - then they further spin it and say they meant within a calendar year from the date they issued the promise. In the meantime our "fierce advocate's" "plate is full" and we are supposed to be patient until the end of his second term. Oh brother, what a bunch of despicable liars.

The House voting for the bill to repeal DADT does NOT mean DADT will be repealed before 2011. The Senate would have to pass their bill as well. Then, if there are any differences b/t the House & Senate bills, they would have to be reconciled AND passed by BOTH houses AGAIN. Finally, the president could sign it. IF - & it's a BIG if - Pelosi does indeed plan on having a vote at the end of 2010, THERE IS NO WAY DADT WOULD BE REPEALED BEFORE 2011. I've voted Democratic ever since turning 18, but I've stopped trusting the Dems. After getting interrupted at Boxer's fundraiser, Obama probably told Pelosi to throw us some crumbs, so this is what she came up with. NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE. Keep it up, my gay brothers & sisters!

Doug, you're right, don't vote. Please let those welcoming and affirming republicans win in large margins. That will sure show them!!!We know that the republicans will be much friendlier then those mean democrats. They were SO welcoming and loving during the Bush years. Who cares if the republicans used gay marriage as a wedge issue in any election during the BUsh years. They are a swell group! Forget the fact that this president and this congress has done more for gay rights than ALL previous presidents combined! Doug, people like you really make me sick. This president and congress have done so much for our community and they have further to go. If you think you are better off voting and ending up with people like McCain and Palin, boy you are sharp. Obama promised that he would end DADT by the end of his first term, that would be 1/2012. I wish people like your would quit your immature whining.
