Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman, the Academy Award winning directing team responsible for documentaries such as 1984’s The Times of Harvey Milk, will be honored at the 2010 Provincetown International Film Festival. The duo, who will have their first non-documentary Howl, a non-linear retelling of poet Allen Ginsberg’s infamous obscenity trial, in theaters in September, will be presented with the Faith Hubley Memorial Award. Other awards recipients include Chasing Amy director Kevin Smith, who will receive the 2010 Filmmaker on the Edge Award, and Academy Award-winning actress Tilda Swinton, who will be honored with the Excellence in Acting Award.
