Antonio Banderas and Pedro Almodóvar will reunite for their first collaboration in more than 20 years with La Piel que Habito (literally translated as The Skin I Live In), a thriller the director says he plans to shoot over the summer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Almodóvar had not planned to announce the film yet, but Banderas jumped the gun while talking to a Russian reporter while attending the while attending the first St. Petersburg Film Festival.

"Antonio is impatient," Almodóvar told Spanish newspaper El Pais. "And I understand it. He had to push back his return to Broadway to do the film and he also had to reject other important projects. And despite the law of silence we had imposed on him, he couldn't keep quiet any longer.

"The film will be a terror film, without screams or scares. It's difficult to define and although it comes close to the terror genre — something that appeals to me that I've never done — I won't respect any of its rules. It's the harshest film I've ever written and Banderas' character is brutal."

The film marks Banderas’s fifth collaboration with the gay director and his first since 1990’s Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down. Banderas played gay for the director in the 1987 film Law of Desire.

Almodóvar gave few details about the film other than to say it won’t star his muse of recent years, Penélope Cruz.
