Madrid Pride Cancels Appearance by Israeli Group

MADRID PRIDE PARADE X390

Organizers of July’s Madrid Pride have announced that because of security concerns, they are canceling an invitation to members of the LGBT Union in Israel and the Foreign Ministry to ride on a bus in the parade.

A delegation made up of members of the LGBT association and the Foreign Ministry, was scheduled to run an Israeli bus in the parade. But organizers say anger among local pro-Palestinian groups and a need for increased security poses too great a risk.

"We regret the fact that the pride organizations in Madrid have decided to focus on issues that have nothing to do with the community,” Mike Hamel, chairman of the LGBT Union in Israel, told Y Net News. “The Union was invited as a non-political organization. This is a missed opportunity for dialogue."

To all those (gay) detractors of Israel: can you name ONE Arab or Muslim democracy anywhere in the world? Can you name ONE single Muslim country where gay rights are respected? If you were forced to choose between living in Israel or in ANY Muslim country, where would you go? I know: The Israeli government is far from perfect, but those fanatic religious fundamentalists of Hamas, Hezbollah, the Martyrs of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Islamic Jihadd, etc. who want to wipe Israel out of the map, a tiny country, it represents almost nothing compared to the immensity of territories inhabited by Muslims, there is no oil and no major commodities to be coveted, what it has been achieved in that tiny country, has been done by the Israelis and NOT by the Arab nomads who call themselves "Palestinians." What is the treatment given to gays in Iran Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and so on and so on? How do they treat women in those countries? Islamists HATE gays, atheists, commies..think about that!

in fact, Madrid's gay pride organizers have clarified that they immediately tried to get Israeli gay groups to join Madrid's gay pride at the same time as rejecting the float paid for by the municipal gov't of Tel Aviv to promote gay tourism. the only thing they are shunning is an Israeli government-sponsored float, due to its refusal to condemn the attack on the unarmed human rights flotilla in international waters. they would not reject a float sent by a human rights NGO or gay group, and especially one that would condemn the use of violence against the freedom flotilla

I can understand them not wanting representatives from the Israeli gov't to march but I see no reason to ban other Israeli LGBT groups from marching. That is censorship plain and simple and should be unacceptable to all LGBT folks who have faced so much censorship against ourselves. We are facing a similar problem here in Toronto where a group called Queers Against Israeli Apartheid is being censored and won't be allowed to march under their name. Here we have been fighting hard for the right of free expression for all regardless of whether or not you agree with their politics. I'm not sure why a group from Israel would want to march in Madrid in the first place but they do and as fellow LGBT folks should have been welcomed in the march. Granted I don't know the whole story here and am confused by what an Israeli gov't delegation was doing marching in any Pride march, however we risk everyone's rights when we take away them away from one group just because they're unpopular.

(Continued From Above) Then World War 1 came along, and the British and French went in and screwed up the whole place by creating a bunch of countries out of a bunch of former countries that pleased no won, that helped create World War 2. This time the British recreated a new Jewish state that pleased no one; not the Jews; not the Arabs; not the Catholics. I really do not understand why anyone really wants that land. It has no oil underneath it; nor enough water on top of it to really support any reasonable number of people. Ah, yes. Tis a puzzelment.

If I recall history correctly, Moses led the Jews out of Egypt and settled in an area on the Jordan River. A few thousand years later, a Jewish boy named Jesus started preaching some hereticy against some of the activities of the religious leaders and ended up being killed. Several years latter, a tax collector for the Romans named Saul (now known as St. Paul) saw a potential business opportunity, and started to write letters that became the basis for what is now known as the Catholic (Christian) Church. This new "Religion" spread into Europe, and led to armies that set out to knock off the Jews and set up their country as the place of origin for the Catholics. Then some years later another religious leader, this time an Arab, rose up and created what is now the Muslim religion using a Jew named Solomon as its father image. This led to Muslim armies taking over the area and knocked off both the Jews and Christians, and building their own religious buildings. (See Below)

So just lets get the fact straight: Jews always lived in Israel for the last 3000 years (uninterrupted). Arabs from Syria settled in Israel in the 1920s to look for jobs in Isreali farms. 2) Arabs terrorize jews and christians. 3) Arabs states deported close to a million jews in the 1940s. They were forced to move to israel. Their homes were taken away from them. Palestinians are treated well and have equal rights in Israel. The only human rights abuses are done by Arabs against jews and Christians through terrorism. All opinion to the contrary are based on unresearched false propaganda. The intellectual perversion that turn the weak side to a bully and the bully to the strong side is born of an innate tendency toward antisemetism that is usually associated with catholics who just beg for an opportunity to be allowed to " legitimately" hate jews. But the truth is the rich Arabs states are the bad guys. There is zero human rights abuse by Israel. Self defense is permitted internally.

I think a few of the anti-semites here got their fact wrong -on purpose. So let me correct your. 1) Israel does not violate anybody's rights. The situation in Gaza is quite good and the economy is well. 2) The ones who are guilty of human rights abuses are Arabs and Palestinians (what ever that means). The Billion and half muslims and Arabs that control most of the wealth in the world boycott Israel and try to destroy its economy. They lie about Israel and use propaganda to pretend that the terrorists are the good guys. Gaza is under blockade by a joint efforts from secular regimes in Israel, Egypt and Jordan because the Hamas is a dangerous islamist regime that imports long range missles from Iran to aim at Israeli civilians. As a result, Gaza will always remain under blockade, not matter how many ant-semetic faggots are going to spread tears over this bullshit. Israel provides plenty of aid to Gaza including whatever came from the ships. Hamas blocked the aid on principle.

It is not the same being anti-semitic than being anti-israelis. Not all the Israelis are jews, there are also Israeli Muslim. This has been misrepresented, the organizers of the parade of Madrid have withdrawn an invitation to political institutions (Tel Aviv City Council) who have not condemned the assassination of volunteers from an NGO by the Israel Army. They has not withdrawn its invitation to the Israeli LGBT groups.
