Constance McMillen to Attend WH Pride Reception

Constance McMillen, the lesbian teenager at the center of a prom season controversy at her Mississippi high school, will attend an LGBT Pride Month event to be hosted by President Barack Obama at the White House Tuesday.

Much speculation has surrounded the guest list for the White House event, which was announced last week. The event reportedly includes a focus on youth guests, which McMillen would exemplify.

According to USA Today, “McMillen will attend a White House reception Tuesday for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender citizens from around the nation in recognition of gay pride month.”

This past spring, McMillen, 18, sued after Itawamba Agricultural High School in Fulton canceled its prom rather than allow the senior to attend with her girlfriend. A judge agreed that her constitutional rights had been violated, but the school was not forced to hold the prom. She eventually was directed to attend a fake prom that turned out not to be the prom the majority of her classmates attended.

Now a high school graduate with college plans, McMillen will serve as a grand marshal in this weekend’s New York City gay pride parade.

Ah geez, this girl has been through enough and now Obama wants to drag her to white house to appease his "gay base." Pretty lame, which is what these receptions are meant to do, shut you up and appease you. I think Constance would have a better chance of actually being heard in other venues and maybe helping other students in her area. But if I were her I would be thanking the all mighty that I am finally out of that horrible hill billy high school for once. Hopefully she wont be sucked in by the Obamabots, her mind is too precious to go to waste.

Great for Constance! Let's make it clear that she is not the one who should feel humiliated. It's the people, especially adults, who excluded her who should be embarrassed and humiliated.

You go, Constance! While Constance is meeting the President, those bigots back home who kept her out of their prom will be tediously shopping at Wal-Mart, getting bitten by mosquitoes and staring blankly into their t.v. sets as their nothing lives pass into oblivion. Who says there's no justice?
