Couple Attacked in Northern Ireland

LONDONDERRY X390 (GRAB) | ADVOCATE.COM

An unidentified gay male couple were attacked early Saturday morning in Londonderry, Northern Ireland, by three men outside a local bar. The couple, ages 22 and 38, received cuts and bruises covering their bodies, the BBC reports. The men who attacked them allegedly used gay slurs, causing police to investigate the case as a homophobic attack.

One said he is so fearful that he has not left his home since the incident took place.

Police report that there have been 10 homophobic attacks in Londonderry in the past 12 months, two more than in the previous year.

@nobias: What of HETERO couples with some significant age differences? Bruce Willis is 55; his current wife is only 32. Bruce's ex, Demi Moore, will be 48 this year; her current husband (Ashton Kutcher) is only 32. Michael Douglas's first wife was 14 years younger than he when they married; his current wife (Catherine Zeta-Jones) is 25 years younger than he is. Angelina Jolie is 35 years old; her current significant other (Brad Pitt) is 47. Then, there was Tony Randall who was 50 years older than his second wife.

Oh some people and their value system, or lack thereof. My boyfriend is 19 years younger than I am. I didn't seek a younger man, I sought out true love and I found it. So before I get blasted for listing too much of my 'self-serving' history from the naysayers amongst us, I'll simply state the fact that love knows no age, love knows no time, love is what it is, and if you find purity in your personal relationship, it matters not. And please remember, those who want to judge and call people names do not make those people what they are being called, it only makes the person saying it an ass.

Hehe, this is like gangsta rap, trying to prove who's more real. why don't you start your own platform, if you're trying so hard to convince everyone that you're right about something as personal and subjective as love. You could call it the "Church of true Gay". Then, you can tell each of your disciples how to be happy, because all your posts say that you must be a very happy person and a guiding light. I give you that though, you really seem to care for other people, a true philanthropist who's trying to save people from their ultimate downfall - a relationship with an age difference. It's just so absurd. Well, everyone has their own theory on how to save the world.

@Frank - Listen you old Basel hoe, you need to keep it moving. Your self-serving rhetoric about background, values, identity, etc is nothing but a smokescreen. I pity my fellow gays who will never wake up and see the truth. Open your eyes and stop playing the fool.

*sigh* nobiashere (man, thsi name is always cracking me up)I felt this close to asking why you disapprove of the way an absolute and total stranger lives his life, but nah... You must have your own weird ideas of how everyone out here lives. Besides, we don't even live on the same continent and don't even share the same cultural background, have the same cultural identity, the same codes and value systems. Don't count on me trekking over to Philly to ask for your blessing, high priest. :-D Ah well, here's to that, everyone, any thoughts on Northern Ireland? I was at a Cultural Sciences congress in Derry two years ago. I had a good time, friendly people, lovely hostel! I saw some ruffians too, but overall people were very warm and welcoming. ALthough I can imagine it being rough for gay people there...

LOL with nobiashere. Nice observation, but being that I do not know the couple personally not sure if what you are saying is true or not. But if it were true I don't find anything wrong with that arrangement. Back to the story I have read about many incidents involving hate crime (check out pinknews.co.uk) in Europe, and by what I gather I suspect that forced multiculturalism has added to the problem throughout western and northern Europe, as you have bigoted Islamists from Asia, middle east and Africa basically colonizing Europe and the UK to turn that place into another Africa and Asia at the expense of the safety of the gay community. Now we are witnessing attack after attack by Islamofacists and bigoted Africans against gay men in Europe as never seen before. The Brits are primarily a homogenized tolerant society, but when you force these social experiments on the people of Europe and UK you are bound to read more articles like these.
