According to an announcement posted on the Lilith Fair website Thursday, 10 stops on the festival's route between July 12 and August 16 have been canceled.
Cofounder Terry McBride apologized on the site, explaining “We are in the midst of one of the most challenging summer concert seasons with many tours being cancelled outright.” She expressed her gratitude to all those who helped garner support for the festival’s return after an 11-year break.
The tour kicked off its 2010 debut in Calgary, Canada. Artists appearing this year include Erykah Badu, Sheryl Crow, and many more female vocalists, both established and new to the scene. Of course, tour founder Sarah McLachlan is in the lineup as well. Lilith 2010 bills itself as the only concert tour featuring all women performers and dedicated to "the celebration of women in music."
Some artists may still be performing at the venues despite the festival cancellation. Refunds are available wherever tickets were purchased.
