Family Reunion: Chaz, Elijah, and Cher

Chaz Bono told reporters he is finally at peace with himself while enjoying brother Elijah Blue’s art show in Malibu, Calif., Friday night with girlfriend Jennifer Elia and mother Cher.

Bono said he spent years trying to be somebody he wasn’t and felt “miserable” pretending to be a girl.

“When I was in Ceremony [short-lived ’90s band] I felt the most pressure to look and behave like someone that truly was not me,” he said.

Bono is currently offering advice to other people in the process of transitioning on his official website, ChazBono.net. He writes on the website that the key to happiness is being true to yourself.

“I wasted years worried about what other people would think if I transitioned, and now I wish I had those years back,” he writes. “Do what is right for you.”

Roy from Morrilton: While I, myself, don't find very overweight people attractive (but somewhat overweight is okay and some people in fact do prefer the very overweight), the way you stated your preference is very disrespectful and uncalled-for. The way you portrayed yourself in your comment suggests that your ugliness is on the inside of yourself. I hope this is not the norm for you. The main reasons for losing weight MUST FIRST be for his health and well-being. You mentioned that your are a Vietnam veteran. I would like to say that I very much appreciate what you and all of your fellow veterans did in Vietnam for our country--and that has nothing to do whatsoever with whether or not we should have been in that war. Being gay, fighting in an unpopular war--in addition to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)--is more than a human should have to endure. Thank you.

Well you will get it over miss mama so hot brad and Kergan Edwards-Stout because I'll be damned if I'll say something is good looking when its not just to please you or any other I'm so gorgeous queen. Chasity was beautiful when she was young and before she ballooned up. Quite right on Morrilton being a redneck town, as is every town in Arkansas, and I don't owe a damned thing to the LGBT any more than I owe one fucking bit of loyalty, gratitude or alliance to Morrilton. They are not my brothers and they as hell are not my sisters. Non Compensated Gay Vietnam Veteran

It’s interesting Kergan. Typically I see as many anti-trans comments here as I would expect in a uneducated small town redneck town bar. One can only hope that people like Roy (“Oooh, ooh, ooh! Accept me for who I am but let me judge others on their looks!”) or Fred or Jeff or that twit from Philly face a lifetime of of stifling discrimination themselves. Pretty much what they deserve.

Very sad to see such negative comments on here. Whether someone fits our idea of what is beautiful or not, why would we as LGBT people pile on with added negativity? I realize the internet provides anonymity, but calling people ugly is very juvenile. But more disturbing is seeing trans-phobic comments. If you are an LGBT person, you owe it to yourself to get educated about gender identity issues--it'll open your eyes. It is really disappointing to see such ill-informed and negative comments. If you want to bitch about everything, go to Perez Hilton's site instead.
