After a year and a half of meetings and discussions, the White House will debut its national HIV/AIDS strategy on Tuesday.

The White House describes the strategy as a "roadmap for policymakers, partners in prevention, and the public on steps the United States must take to lower HIV incidence, get people living with HIV into care, and reduce HIV-related health disparities."

The plan will be described on Tuesday at 2 p.m. by Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, White House Domestic Policy Council Director Melody Barnes, Office of National AIDS Policy Director Jeffrey Crowley and HHS Assistant Secretary for Health Dr. Howard Koh.

Shortly after taking office, President Barack Obama tasked Crowley and Sebelius will developing a HIV strategy — they've since conducted dozens of meetings on issues ranging from minority infection rates to public/private partnerships in research and financing.

Too many people are earning paychecks "fighting" and treating HIV/AIDS for a cure to ever be allowed to make it to the market. Profits before people style capitalism ensures that HIV/AIDS is here to stay.

maybe they don't want to cure it....they make a fortune treating people with the disease....it is the same with everything- as long as there is a buck to make- they won't cure a damn thing- cancer, AIDS, whatever.

We can fly a man to the moon, we can explore miles below the sea and we can build cities with materials that last for generations -- but you can't cure this disease?!?! Something isn't adding up, people. I am a firm believer that either our government, the pharmaceuticals or both are hiding the cure for this and other life-threatening diseases. I don't care what anyone counters or claims; I simply have a gut feeling that this is the case. If these cures were revealed then these companies wouldn't be making billions a year off those who think nonetheless and fail to question. Using condoms is like putting a band-aid on a gushing wound -- it's just as redundant. There's no reason in our modern-day, highly technological society that HIV and other STD's still exist. Science and Medicine, doesn't speak too highly of your professions. Quit wasting our money and release the vaccines and cures!

Not cutting most funding for AIDS medications would be nice for a start. After years working with various agencies concerned with HIV I seriously doubt any rumor of efforts on the behalf of gay people. We just don't matter...
