Thief Robs Nonprofit at Pride

Gay Pride Festival in Santa Barbara at Chase Palm Park x390 (GRAB) | ADVOCATE.COM

The Pacific Pride Foundation, which hosts Santa Barbara Pride, has lost more than $6,000 after a robbery at this year's festival at Chase Palm Park.

A spokesperson for the nonprofit organization says a thief took money from their concessions tent during gay-pride events, according to KEYT-TV, a Santa Barbara news station.

A thief sliced a hole in the concessions tent to access the money.  No one has been arrested in connection with the robbery.

To compensate for the loss, the group set up a fund for donations.

The link for the Recovery Fund in the article does not seem to be working so simply google Pacific Pride Foundation and you'll get their website and it's on their home page.

As someone who has been a longtime volunteer in the Santa Barbara community, what is particularly saddening about this is that it was clearly a well planned out robbery by at least two people who had vetted out the logistics of the heist. My only hope is that these thieves are facing a life or death situation and the funds save them. The saving grace is that our community is STRONG and committed to supporting the incredible work of Pacific Pride Foundation. However, following the CA State budget cuts to HIV/AIDS funding, this is sadly salt rubbed on top of a wound. If you're in a position to help, please do so!
