Nick Adams Snags Lead in Priscilla

NICK ADAMS X390 (FROM HIS SITE) | ADVOCATE.COM

Broadway triple threat (and frequent Advocate contributor) Nick Adams will star as the ABBA-obsessed Adam/Felicia in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert: The Musical.

The musical stage adaptation of the glittery Academy Award–winning 1994 film, which starred Guy Pearce as Adam/Felicia, will follow the exploits of two young drag performers and an older transgender friend as they find love and friendship while traveling though the Australian outback. Priscilla premiered in Sydney in 2006 and became the most successful Australian musical of all time. The show, which has also received acclaim in a production in London’s West End, will make its North American debut in Toronto this fall, followed by a Broadway premiere next spring.

Adams is considered one of Broadway’s most promising young performers. He has appeared in recent productions of Chicago, A Chorus Line, Guys and Dolls, and can currently be seen in another drag performance as a cagelle in the Tony Award–winning hit La Cage aux Folles. The actor also recently participated in The Advocate’s A Day in Gay America pictorial.

I am very sad to see the hurtful remarks made by people on these web site. And they do it Anonymously! Guess who has not talent, right, the commentors of these statments. Nick Adams HAS talent and plently of it, why else would he be hired for show on Broadway. God Bless The Child That Has His Own. I have heard him sing at clubs and on stage so my experience watching this talented young man has confirmed his talents for me.

Nick Adams is indeed a very nice person. I've seen him in "A Chorus Line" and recently saw him this past June 2010 in "La Cage". Being a fan of musical theatre, I get annoyed when a sweet guy like Nick gets negative comments in different places (Broadway World.com for example). I think that some people are jealous of him, because he's handsome, muscular and talented in his field. In the couple of times we've chatted at the stage door, he's always been a very nice guy. I will make plans to see him in "Priscilla" (and Patti LuPone in "Women On The Verge...) sometime in early 2011. Best of luck to you Nick with "Priscilla" in Toronto and NYC.

Sorry but you just ain't got what the original Nick Adams of the 1950's and 1960's had.

Why is it opening in Toronto. Do they even have enough people in Canada to support a show? Let alone a small town like Toronto?

I wish him well. I saw Chorus Line and La Cage and thought this actor did a fine job. I will certainly see Priscilla... Not sure the point of the mean-spirited post about a successful. good looking, out B'way actor unless it is because he is a successful, goodlooking, out B'way actor.

He is also without any ounce of talent outside the gym. A hunk who has said 'yes' to the right people.

The Advocate is remiss in not mentioning his donating his time and talent in the performances for Broadway Bares, Broadway Cares fundraiser for AIDS projects. His efforts for the gay community are admirable and ought to be noted.
