Obama to Visit The View

The last time President Obama appeared on The View, it was 2008 — and he was a presidential nominee. Now, with his approval ratings at an all time low according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll, Obama is looking to improve his image with a return visit to The View — the first sitting U.S. president to appear on the talk show.

In 2008, Obama joked with the ladies, comparing his looks to those of Brad Pitt and calling himself the tough skinny kid who can stand up to Republican bullies in the playground of politics. Now, Obama will likely use his airtime to talk about for more serious issues including the passage of financial regulatory reform, the BP oil spill, and his advances in the health care industry.

But with LGBT issues a frequent topic of discussion on The View, will the president discuss “don’t ask, don’t tell” or other gay issues of the moment. Watch The View to find out.

Hopefully Obama will tout some of the highlights of his administration. Obama has passed some landmark reforms in health care and finance. Hopefully also there will be a major announcement about further economic reform that will create the millions of jobs desperately needed; or alternatively a guaranteed income which would make millions of jobs unnecessary and spur the economy. If every American was entitled to a basic income then unemployment and jobs for every American would be unnecessary. America has a vast level of wealth that is locked into private securities that about 90% of Americans have no access to, and about 1% has full control of. This is a vast inequality and makes no objective sense. Greed is the only thing that keeps the system in place because many appear to believe in the American dream or fairy tale; i.e. that we can all become disgustingly rich when those stories are few and far between, e.g. Oprah, Bill Gates, etc. Guaranteed incomes would solve a lot of problems

Dan Choi and hundreds more this year of our LGBT community have been prosecuted under DADT and removed from military service. Some, like Choi, have received honorable discharges, others haven't been so fortunate. All will be forced to explain why they were discharged and live with that indignity for the rest of their lives. There are no current plans to stop these dismissals. Pres. Obama lacks the courage to stand up and do the right thing. His silence amounts to approval of DADT, and makes him a capricious, untrustworthy ally. I would hope that the hosts of the The View would put Obama's feet to the fire on this issue, but I doubt it.

I hope that Obama is finding time to make certain that our 550.000 department of defense surveys about don't ask, don't tell are being well secured. I don't doubt that they are very secure, especially in light of the wikileaks today. Did anyone list the names of the individuals who wrote the dadt survey questions. Westat should provide this information. Remember transparency. We didn't help write the survey. Who did? What are the backgrounds/agendas of these people?

@brian and sean, both of u guys are focking fucktards. stop trolling. do you know of any dem. politician outside of barney frank that evens gives a remote shit about our issues? you focking little bitches wouldnt be satisfied with any dem in office. he's not perfect but he has done more things for our community than any other president in office. that's not an opinion its a fact. i realize he hasn't fulfilled all his promises but at least he incrementally trying. the president isnt a dictator, so he cant magically fix everything in a instant. And if you are remotely following the media, you can see the republicans actively fighting against any progressive idea, such as civil rights, health care, the environment, etc.

"tough skinny kid who can stand up to Republican bullies in the playground of politics" - I don't know who he was referring to here because Obama is certainly NOT standing up to Republician bullies. On the contrary, he has been doing their bidding every since he was elected. We need a real democratic President in office someone with a backbone!
