Gayle King Talks DADT With Choi

GAYLE KING DAN CHOI X390

Fresh from his arrest last week at the GetEqual protest in Las Vegas, Lt. Dan Choi appeared on Gayle King’s radio show to talk about being discharged, the future of “don’t ask, don’t tell” and why coming out is so important.

“It’s been a rollercoaster,” Choi said. “It’s painful. As much as we predict that it’s going to be OK, that we saw it coming anyway, the law is the law — as much as I prepared for it, it still hurt.”

King made it clear where she stands on the issue — “This is just not right… if I was putting it in writing, it would be in capital letters and exclamation points” — while Choi says he’s hoping his activism will help the world see “the importance of equality” in our society.

Dan Choi is a victim of a system that is absurd on its face. In process of being repealed (according to Pelosi, Reid and Obama) we're still dismissing gay men and lesbians and fully enforcing DADT. If Obama could find the stones, he could stop the dismissals with a simple executive order, while Congress continues with the repeal process. But he has REFUSED to do so, and therefore appears to support DADT, giving continued comfort to those elements of the military hierarchy who like the status quo.

@Andy...who's the fool? As a result of this discriminatory discharge, now your precious tax dollars will go into recruiting, interviewing and training another Arab linguist (and we know how many there are of those highly trained specialists to go around). And in the meantime, until we have a fully trained linguist up to speed, which will take months and months, our national security will suffer. Really bright of you Andy.

@Andy...what in the h*** did Dan do to you? Are you kidding? Why are you even on this website if you are just going to be negative. Dan has more courage and passion than most..I even really want to give you the benefit of doubt...seriously be more specific on why you think Dan is foolish. Man, your comment is way out there. Have you even served in the military? If so, I'm sorry that my tax..supported you. You must be str8 hater, which would explain everything. I almost didn't even comment on your comment (and waste my time) but I guess you wanted some attention.
